@Sour Kraut, I hope that I didn't come across as anything but being in agreement with you that the Toklat makes a lot of sense and is significantly cheaper than going the custom route. I have no problem letting people know how much it cost me to end up with the perfect .454 Casull back country revolver. I'm a bit of a document pack rat so I have the original purchase information for the Alaskan. I bought it new on September 30th, 2009 for $725. The excellent work by Mr. Bowen cost $1,590 so my total cost for the revolver is $2,315.

We are GOOD sir, I believe we are on the same page in every respect. Love your custom build, and as you say, it’s personal choice and priorities as to the expense, and we agree on that completely. I would love to have even a Toklat for the few times I’d be fishing in brown bear country. Would rather have your Bowen of course, and I see nothing wrong with spending that kind of money for the reasons you did. I’m just not in a position financially to do so. I think the Toklat is hideous looking, but as a non-custom carry piece for fishing, I think it’s a better choice than the shorter barreled Alaskan or the 7.5” Super Redhawk 454s. Sadly, I will likely have neither versions in the near future. I will wager your Bowen is a dream to shoot!
