Which AR15 brand has left-side charging handle

I recall seeing an AR model that used a side (FAL-like) charging handle. If the back of the receiver is closed on that, it would solve gas blowback problem with suppressors. Does anyone recall the brand or know much about its reputation?

Ameetec Arms makes an AR15 upper with a closed charging handle slot and a left side charging handle. The slot for the charging handle exposes the bolt carrier to more crud; but it does fit your description.

On solving the gas blowback problem with suppressors have you looked at the caulk trick or the PRI Gasbuster charging handle?

So, that's what happens when an AR-15 and an FAL mate? I knew there was a reason they liked being in the safe next to one another.

I'm lefthanded-- wouldn't be much of a help to me beyond a few oohs and aahs at the range. The exact same set-up on the right side of the gun would work for me, but who's going to produce it?

Dave Lauck of D&L Sports produces a right hand version of the same thing. It replaces the dust cover and requires a slot milled into the side of the upper receiver up to the case deflector.

AR15s are great that way - you have to think pretty hard to come up with something that someone hasn't already made for it.
