I'm in the market for a high quality telescoping baton. Up until about 20 minutes ago I was set on getting a 21 inch ASP steel baton, but as I was reading, I came across the Winchester baton. As I understand it, the Winchester is heavier, and therefore more durable. Can anyone please speak for the quality of these Winchester batons, or how they compare to the ASP? Try as I might, I cannot find a dealer of Winchester batons online. Thank you all in advance.

(edit) I just found out that Winchester is no longer manufacturing these batons. Any other recomendations for a more durable telescoping baton?

What leads you to believe an ASP isn't durable enough? Are you planning on hitting things other than large muscle masses with it? --'cause an ASP is plenty durable for those.

I never said it wasnt durable enough, I said that I had heard that the Winchester was MORE durable. Also now that you ask, I have heard of asp batons bending over time, and even breaking if used in an emergency, such as breaking open a car window.

As someone who has used a Monadnock collapsible on a car window, I will advise that while I've never seen one bend, I can assure you that they're not the ideal tool for the job.

Try RCB Peacekeeperproducts same as the win.
There is some youtube clip for the RCB baton.

Wow, yeah, from what I see, I really like those RCB Peace Keeper batons. Any word on their quality?

Unless you are purposely going to abuse your baton, how "durable" do you need it to be? You are only going to use it in emergency SD situations right? How many times in your lifetime do you think that will actually happen?

Can you explain what "MORE durable" actually means to you in practical application?

Like I said, it's not only for self defense, if need be I would like to be able to use my baton in other emergency situations like breaking out a car window after getting locked out. Also I've heard that heavier batons hit harder and therefore take less strikes to bring down a formidable opponent. And by more durable I mean less prone to breaking and bending. I only intend to use the baton in emergency situations, but I would still like to be able to depend on it for whatever situation it calls for.

If you haven't already, you might want to check the laws in your state. In some states it is illegal to carry a collabsible baton unless you are LEO. Wouldn't want you getting in trouble. ;)

Thanks for your concern. I had checked the laws in my state and it is indeed legal.

Get an ASP. I have never seen one break yet. DO NOT get the Monadnok "autolock". If opened too hard they do not lock. The ASP locks up harder the harder you open it. Never seen an ASP break, bend, rust. Have mine for over 10 years and have yet to damage it. And yes, when I use it, it gets used hard.

Thanks friend, but from what I can tell, I feel that the RCB baton would "fit" me better, so I'm going to go with that. Anyone know of any good online dealers? Thanks again.
