Which battery of firearms would you rather own:

Both selections are terrible. Can I reroll?

For Group 1, the rifles are acceptable for my purposes. The V3 has issues and I am not interested in a waterfowling shotgun. And I don't like Glock ergonomics.

For Group 2, the rifle is fine. I would never own some silly luxury shotgun that's worth (up to 10x) more than my car. The pistol selection is fine.

I think I would pick Group 2. I would sell the shotgun, fix the AC in my car, and pick up an 870 or Ithaca. I really need to move, get a better car, and pay off student loans, so the remaining $10k would be distributed among those.

The choices may be terrible for what you like, only you can say. For others one of the options may be nirvana or any point in between nirvana and terrible.

I would never own any of the option one rifles though I wouldn’t call them silly. And the reasons I won’t own one are not what most would think. It’s because I can’t stand small ejection/loading ports, detachable box magazines and don’t care for a rifle trigger with a blade bifurcating it. To many people a luxury shotgun isn’t “silly”.

Like they say there is no accounting for taste. There is also no accounting for an individuals peccadilloes. As an example if I have a choice I absolutely will not do business with someone who volunteers to me that they are an honest person. I also wouldn’t go out with a women named “Cutter”.

Out of curiosity what are the issues with the V3?

There's gotta be some room for a couple 22's.

It’s tacit everyone has the single shot .22 grandad got by saving for thirty five years then redeeming the coupons that came with each plug of Days Work he bought. And if anyone doesn’t have a story like this... QUIT JACKING AROUND AND MAKE ONE UP!

Group 2, no question!

One Winchester M70 Sporter in your choice of cartridge.

A Grulla SxS in 12 or 16 Gauge.

A CZ P01 9mm or a .357 Magnum(either Colt, Ruger or S&W).
- Winchester Model 70 Sporter in .270 Winchester
- Crulla Armas "Celtic" in 12 gauge
- CZ P01 9mm (although I'd rather have a CZ 75 B in 9mm)

Just changed the choice to any CZ 9mm. I was thinking of carry pieces when I posted and have a P07. It’s not my favorite CZ though. I like my 75 SP-01 Tactical better but it is too bulky too carry concealed.

Grandpa on my dads side was Chinese, no shooting! theres work TOO DO!.....Grandpa on moms side used a SxS 10ga for everything.

Grullas have now been added to my list of wants, tho i think the Krieghoff double rifle, shotgun set is still ahead of them......

Honestly IF someone handed me any of the guns on the lists and said "here do what you want with this" Id probably be pretty happy to do as
@horsey300 says and "shoot the snot out of them"...even the g19

Listening to everyones opinions has given me a bit of perspective of my own interest in firearms. I really dont care what they are as long as they go "bang"...most of the time...i can work with that....
I really like looking at pretty guns, but again its not a requirement for me to like a gun.

It was because of my maternal grandfather that I was able to hunt growing up. He was a rancher and owned quite a bit of land. He was also the head of the engineering department at Texas A&M. He sounds like your grandfather. He had no hobbies, didn’t watch TV, and was either teaching, writing textbooks or working at the ranch. That was it. It made him happy. He was a very kind man, never said I love you but you could see it in his eyes and hear it in his voice. You knew how he felt about you. He is missed.

I'd choose Group 2, then trade the SxS for an O/U. I don't shoot side-bys well.

The handgun would be a 6" Python. I used to have two, but got rid of them along the way. Carried it on the force and shot it in NRA Pistol, Steel Plate and Police Combat matches. Double-action wasn't as smooth as S&W, but loved the way it handled recoil in rapid fire.

The 6" came out of the break-front holster as fast as a 4" coming out of a standard holster and looked pretty mean.

For you and only you a LNIB Superposed can be substituted for the Grulla.

Group one:
Two Savage Axis II’s chambered in your choice of cartridges. RAR and Remington 783 can be substituted for Savage Axis II.

Remington VX3 or Benelli SBE II.

Glock 19.

Group Two:
One Winchester M70 Sporter in your choice of cartridge.

A Grulla SxS in 12 or 16 Gauge.

Any CZ 9mm or a .357 Magnum(either Colt, Ruger or S&W).

Essentially I agree with LW, and also agree about the ports on the axis. As all here should understand, such a choice between 2 groups is detrimental to a good night's sleep. If a benelli m2 were included in group2, it'd be easier to swallow, as the given parameters require though, I'm exploiting my hand loading in the decision to choose as such: m70-.270wsm given that the crf is in play, and 686+. The shotgun of course being non negotiable (and taking that we can't sell/trade for other items), will see more abuse than it should as my shotguns are not just bird/defense guns, and will lose value quickly, but I can live with that as it's my only shotgun under these circumstances.

New Beretta (1).JPG
I'm good. Got a pretty nice 20 ga. O/U Beretta used/N.I.B. last year, complements my Franchi O/U and they take the same choke tubes.

I've already spent my money on a partial version of group one, I'll just finish it out. RAR in .450 Bushmaster, a great choice in Ohio for deer hunting, Glock 19, Vickers edition in my case. As good as it gets for an around carry pistol IMHO. I'll be adding a Ruger RAR Ranch that accepts AR mags in .223 when my gun fund replenishes. For varmints and such it'll be a great second rifle for where I live in Ohio. As to the shotgun, I chose neither, I spent my cash on a Browning Cynergy Composite in full camo. Makes my little red-neck heart go pitter-patter.
