I saw those ARCALok components on their website, but I could not figure out what they were for. Are these something new and what do you use them on?
ARCA-Swiss mounts have been around since the 1990’s. It’s a photography/videography gear connectivity/adaptability system, largely surrounding a 1.5” 60degree dovetail. The Area419 version is called Arcalock, which uses scalloping on the dovetail to engage with pins in the clamps to fix the clamp in position, preventing it from sliding along the dovetail under load.
For photography, I use arca rails and clamps to connect cameras and lenses and video displays to tripods, supports, brackets, etc. For shooting sports, I use arca interfaces for all of my spotting optics for quick detachment from tripods. I also use arca rails on many of my rifles (all of my precision rifle competition rifles) to connect bipods and tripods. I have multiple arca rails with 2 and 3 clamp interfaces so I can have multiple spotting devices engaged in one platform.
200mm double arca rail in an arca clamp on my tripod, with 3 cam lever arca clamps to connect binos, reticle monocular, and LRF.
ARCALok rail on my 6 creed PRS rifle with bipod withdrawn towards rear to fit onto firing platform.
Integral arca rail on my MPA chassis
Integral ARCA rail on my small frame competition AR
My son locked into the same tripod pictured above with the full length arca rail clamped near the action, lining up on a buck downrange.
