As a kid, it was 22 only. Since getting back into firearms in my second childhood, I used to shoot 9s the most, then went to 38/357, & have been in 45acp mode for the last year or so. I still shoot the others, but most of my newer guns have been 45s, so i have shot them more.
I like the versatility of the 45acp, & the subsonic power it brings. You can plink with them, or load them up. Projectiles are easy to get, & you can vary from 180 to 230g (even more, but that's my variability). they are very accurate, & i have them in autos & revolvers, something i don't have in 38/357.
I got a new redhawk recently, & it can shoot 45acp or 45 colt, which makes it very fun & versatile. It is also the reason i've been shooting more 45 acp! ..have to try it out..
