I would take a chance on the SR9. It seems like a bargain for $400. I got rid of my .40cal when ammo prices and availability went crazy a few years ago. 9mm is all that I really need although I really like the 40 S&W.
My father has had a Taurus PT92 for about 20 years. It's been a good gun. He only shoots it about 3-4 times per year (maybe a box or two per range day) but it's reliable and accurate. I'd recommend this Taurus for a home defense gun or range toy. I wouldn't want to carry it.
I'd go with the SR9. Its had enough time for the problems to be worked out and has become a really great gun. Mine is flawless.
The SR40 is new and going through its initial issues still.
And I just don't like Taurus, but thats just me.
