Hello,

I am thinking about buying a replacement barrel for my glock 19 9mm, with the sole purpose of shooting lead. I have been looking at Lone Wolf and KKM. Lone Wolf looks to be around 100 bucks and KKM around 165. 65 bucks really does not bother me much either way. What I am wanting is a barrel that has no problems cycling lead ammo, whether that is semi-wadcutters or roundnose. From what I have read in many other forums, some have trouble with their reloads in a Lone Wolf and need to have this sent back in (which is done for free) and have the chamber reamed due to the tight tolerances. Is this also true for KKM Barrels...i have not found any threads regarding this issue. Also, does anyone on here shoot lead 9mm rounds in their lonewolf or kkm barrel, who have not had to have the chamber reamed? I have several thousand cases of 9mm which have all been fired in my factory glock chamber, and I would like to still be able to use them without have to send a barrel back in to be modified. Feel free to recommend any other barrels, which you have shot lead reloads in with no problems.

also, something else, which i have heard but not sure about, is it true that glock 9mm barrels do not expand the brass as much as the .40 s&w, so this might be a non-issue. I have looked at my 9mm cases and have never noticed the glock buldge in any.

I am extremely pleased with my Lone Wolf Barrel for my Glock 17. I have been shooting Lee's truncated cone, tumble lube @ 125 grain.

Vacek,

good to know, i have a few questions for you.

1. were you able to use brass previously fired out of a 9mm glock barrel?
2. if so, what type of dies did you use?
3. did you have to have anything done to the barrel for lead reloads to chamber properly?
4. what OAL do you load your rounds to?

OK here is some info

1. were you able to use brass previously fired out of a 9mm glock barrel?

Yes. That includes brass picked up at the range and also I purchased a lot of once fired brass.

2. if so, what type of dies did you use?

I use the Lee Deluxe Pistol Dies for 9mm. These are carbide and include the factory crimp die.

3. did you have to have anything done to the barrel for lead reloads to chamber properly?

No the barrel fit perfectly the first time.

4. what OAL do you load your rounds to?

3.8 grains of W231 at an OAL of 1.096. See pic.

In addition, I had to put the cast bullets through the Lee sizer at .356 and seat it deep enough so the bullet wasn't headspacing on the bullet. Essentially I made sure that each bullet after crimping fit in the barrel. Obviously I had the barrel removed from the Glock and dropped the loaded bullets in to see how they headspaced. These are nice mild loads. The Glock throws the brass down at about 5 o'clock about 3-4 feet from my right foot.

Here are the pics. Note where the case is not sized versus how it is sized. This was on the regular 17 barrel but same idea with the Lone Wolf.

I had a KKM 10mm to .40 conversion barrel for my Glock. I was highly impressed with the workmanship. The rifling was perfect and smooth, spend the extra money and spend less time cleaning.

I bought a KKM barrel for my Glock .40 S&W model 22. The workmanship is excellent and I've never had a failure to feed, jacketed or lead rounds. Dropped right in too.

One caveat. In the picture of the loaded 9mm, I had lost some of my initial LLA with the sizing. I had to recoat/retumble the bullet before loading. If you use the Lee bullet sizing system its best to coat twice. Once before and once after.

Thanks Vacek,

That was some very useful information. Now i just need to convince my wife i need a new barrel. I will post later on down the road with which one i buy, and how it worked for me.
