No offense but who are you trying to impress? Who cares what it looks like?

Seriously? I never realized that optical sights were designed to look at from the side. I though the value was all in what happened when you looked through them!

You honestly can make shots just as fast and just as accurately with the irons as with the optics? And you've tested this with a shot timer to prove the point?

If so, great for you! The optic is unnecessary weight and expense. Might as well sell it and get some ammo money for it.

thanks once again sam by the way this is the gun i am putting my first can on and i intend on buying a new barrel for my cz 75 so i can use it on both

It's your stereotypical "black AR". I own one too, but lets not kid ourselves - there ain't no dressing up those pigs. They are ugly, utilitarian rifles. In that spirit, pick whichever WORKS best, not which looks best.

They are ugly, utilitarian rifles.
Well, to be fair, it is an AR-15 pistol, to it isn't really "utilitarian." As a pure range toy, I can sort of see how aesthetics plays a bigger role in the overall value than it would if this was a rifle being outfitted for military, defensive, tactical team, or other "serious" uses.

Otherwise, I agree with you.

I like with the red dot - I also find it a good aiming system since it does not require a cheek weld to shoot accurately - and you can more easily shoot it from your weak shoulder if needed. I am a red dot fan - it also looks purposeful.

I would personally trade it off for an AK. Aks are much more pretty, that thing is just ugly either way. :neener:

IMHO, the firearm itself looks really funky. But... does my opinion really matter to you?

ETA: BTW, I have funky-looking firearms (Hi-Point) and I couldn't care less what others think of their appearance. :)

That red dot is going to give you a much quicker sight acquisition time than those iron sights. It looks alright either way, but I would put a good red dot sight on (don't know the current brand you have on there) and practice with it to see how fast you can get hits on target.
Another nice thing about red dot sights is you can leave both eyes open. Definitely an advantage on a little gun like that IMHO...

I think it looks better without. You're gun will also look better with a tripod mounted to it making it very tactical.

danny,

I like the look of flat tops better but the red dot would probably make it much more functional without a stock in regards to setting up more accurate shots.

That's a 9mm I take it?

Not an uncool gun at all. I would not own a AR pistol in 5.56 but 9mm makes a pretty cool argument. You can load up hot rounds through a longer barrel. Pretty wicked close quarters weapon.

Go with what you feel "works" better.

and enjoy it!

ps. Guns looks have about as much relavance as the smell of the tires on your truck....I am a hipocrite though because I find myself doing it to sometimes:O

IMHO- You need a Quad rail so you can put many more things on it.
Flashlight, Laser, Night scope, can opener. OH! that's my mistake the gun is a can opener.
Could use a sling. You could add another ten to twelve pounds and still be functional.
Anyway just having fun with you:neener:

I don't see the purpose of an AR pistol that uses the same gas system as a traditional DI AR. The new piston pistols I think actually have some purpose as a non-NFA SBR, without that bulky tube on the back.
