i am looking to get a nylon owb holster for my lcr 9mm when i'm outside on the yard or woods carry. a guy gave me a uncle mikes size 36 but it is tight in it, i thought about the size 0 in the uncle mikes or blackhawk. the 0 is made for small to medium tho and up to 3 inch barrel. will it over time become to big for the lcr? i don't want my gun sinking down in the holster. so should i go with the size 0 or keep using the 36?, the blackhawk size 09 is the same as the 36. now the trigger guard is covered in the 36 but the gun has to be pushed hard for it to fit. thanks for any help.

Looking through Uncle Mike's holster chart apparently they don't offer any specific holster for the Ruger LCR. As you've already found out the closest one they have is the Model 36 (for a S&W Model 36 with a 2" barrel), or the Model 0 (for a S&W model 36 with a 3" barrel). Looks like Blackhawk offers pretty much the same thing.

I have used Uncle Mike's holsters for years, usually for carrying on hikes through the woods, and haven't found any of them getting too loose or oversized from the gun. If you're concerned about the Model 0 being too long for the LCR maybe consider gluing some sort of plug in the bottom to keep the gun from slipping down too far inside.

thanks bannockburn, i hadn't thought of that. i have some soft foam that came with my cell phone case, kept it for some reason i don't know. it would be perfect, thanks again

Glad to have been of help. Still occasionally carry my Beretta Model 70S in an old Uncle Mike's Number 1 Sidekick holster.
