If push comes to shove I would have to say that overall the S&Ws have the smoother trigger pull on them versus a Colt six gun.

I would also like to put a write-in vote for the Ruger Six Series as having the best modular design in a DA revolver.

Have both and shoot both Colt & S&W. I really don't have a preference of one over the other. While I have more S&W revolvers than Colt that was purely a matter of what I stumbled over on any given day. That said, I am not shooting competition where most shooters I have talked with claim they prefer the S&W cylinder release which seems perfectly logical to me. Anyway for me and likeability it's six of one and half dozen of the other. :)

I’m an a S&W revolver fan - all of my DA revolvers are S&W. I’ve had one Colt and liked it quite well. But if I’m spending my money on a shooter, I’m probably getting another S&W. If I’m getting a collector, I’m probably getting whatever strikes my fancy that day, and it could easily be a Colt if I got the right deal.

I'd prefer the S&W.. Again, like so many others, the push release for the cylinder is just so much more natural. Love the crap outta my 686+.

The primary problem I have with my MKIII is that it shoots high

and I can't find a taller front sight. I have searched on ebay, nothing popping out that is tall, and will fit.

I prefer the S&W as it stacks better in double action, and there are more parts out there. Colt walked away from their old product lines, sold their parts, would not work on the things, and that was when they had workers who could. Not anymore, all gone. Colt is just a brand name now, the name has resonance and meaning to many, but it is like fiat money, the only value is the story the kool aid drinkers have in their heads. Old Colts will go bang, until they stop going bang. Finding parts and someone who knows how to work on the things is like trying to find a Watchmaker to clean and repair a mechanical watch. Not many around who do that.

So does my vintage Cobra; way high (at 25 yards from a rest). Not much I can do about it but, fortunately, the closer I get to the target, the closer the bullets get to the x-ring-and the Cobra is pretty much intended for close-quarters shooting. But still...:(

Yeah, buggers!

I hate it when shooting at my 50 yard gong target, having to put the front sight in the dirt below the gong, in order to hit the thing.
