Which NAA Mini Revolver?

I have the NAA .22/.22mag 1 5/8ths barrel. Like many others, it is with me nearly all the time.
The best grip for the little NAA is without a doubt the holstergrip. IMHO. I clip the built-in pocket clip over the waistband of my jeans right behind the belt loop on my right side. My belt goes over the top as usual. It is very comfortable and very concealed there. I will admit that it's not a quick draw....but it is there all day.
...just a couple other comments from someone who has carried the little NAA almost daily for a couple years:
+ the sights are poor
+ the gun is high quality
+ despite some data.....22mag makes bigger holes in stuff
+ my gun keyholes terribly with Hornady Critical Defense (much to my disappointment)
+ 16rds of .22mag fits perfectly in an Altoids Smalls tin.

I have the NAA-22MC - that's the 1 5/8 barrel mag with 22lr adapter barrel.
I've become reliably accurate to 8" target at 7 yards with 22lr, but haven't quite got that good with WMR. Not enough ammo to practice with. I find it real snappy with the magnums and for me, a tight support hand gives me the best results.
What? 2 hand grip?? works for me.

I like the Earls with a 3" BL. in .22mag. I got a pair of them & find they are good BUG guns. I also have a 2" Black Widow in .22mag. I also picked up .22LR. cylinders for them. I like the cowboy grips on the Earl & the grip on the BL. WIDOW. These can be EDC BUGs as well as fun guns. I picked up a bunch of .22 mag.s while I could! Glad I did now, as they are fun to shoot:)!

I bought one in 22lr and 22 mag, shot it one time and sold it. I found nothing appealing about it other than a conversation piece. It really didn't exude confidence.

I have been thinking in the .22 short version with the 1" bbl as a deep concealment BUG.

A .22 short in the right place will take the life of anyone on planet Earth.

I have folding grips on all 3 of mine, a super companion (cap and ball), a .22 LR 1 5/8" barrel, and a 2" Black Widow in .22 magnum. They all shoot well, but the Black Widow is amazing, able to put 5 rounds into 3.5" off the bench from 25 yards. Lack of real sights on the other two limit them to 7 or 8 inches at that range, for me, anyway. I doubt very seriously I could shoot 'em THAT well without the full sized folding grips on them. My hands are too fat for that tiny little parrot beak grip. The BW, though, came with a two fingered rubber boot grip.

As they're not hunting pistols, but for up close and personal, and my .22lr is a second or 3rd gun anyway, this is fine enough accuracy. The Black Widow is good enough for primary carry where ultimate concealment is necessary. Recoil is not an issue with the folding grips.

The Chang grips make it easier to shoot accurately.

iIRM, I bought the 6" Earl for ultralight hiking. While extremely light for self defense, it is great for small game hunting. Inside of 20 yards, I stand a very good chance of getting my dinner. I hike with 22wmr.

I was wanting the NAA .22 mag with the shorter barrel, but ran across a Cobra .22 mag derringer for next to nothing first.

it wasn't reliable on the lower barrel, so I drove the 18 miles to SLC where they are made. Their smith totally rebuilt it before my eyes; even gave me a new barrel set. All for no charge! Lifetime warranty regardless of how many owners there have been.

Say what you will, but Cobra's customer service to me was top-notch. 2 rounds of .22 mag at close range is still better than a sharp stick.

I had a Black Widow with both cylinders, years ago. From everything I have read from others, I must've had a lemon. I loved the looks and size of the little revolver, but the trigger was so stiff, that you had to REALLY squeeze, which translated into not being able to hit the broadside of a barn. I never actually measured it, but I reckon it would have been in the 7-8lb range. Admittedly I grew up shooting competitively with the old Hi Standards and S&W K's, so I cringe at most factory triggers, but the NAA trigger on the one I had was just ridiculous. After a few years I eventually got tired of it and reluctantly sold it. I still have regrets at times though.

For general all around.........

.....carry and usage, the wife and I have enjoyed the Black Widow with both cylinders. Preferred carry is the holster grip or the regular grip with a pocket holster.

I have had my North American Arms 22 LR - 22 Magnum revolver for many years. I very rarely use it. My original NAA revolver broke when I tried a shot load.

If I were to buy one now, it would be the new one that does not load the way mine does. It is not the safest design to have to manipulate the trigger and hammer as one loads a gun.

i have 4 and carry the Mini Mag every where i'm aloud.....like to plink with CB long in the Earl......

It's funny -- I've had my Earl for a long time (both cylinders), and it never occurred to me to shoot CB's in it... I have a boat-load of CB shorts, and that Earl should make for a fun plinker!

Here's my small collection:

I found that I couldn't leave the grips alone. I put the Black Widow grips on the Earl, got a Pug grip for the Black Widow, and replaced the fold-out grips on the Mini with rubber slabs...

I picked up my first NAA in .22LR. back in the mid 80s. It was great in the heat of summer because of humidity. It was a great All the time gun! The newer models show fine fit &finish &well thought out designs. I have traded the grips around &found you can get a good combination of comfort & concealing them. The addition of a rear sight HELPS ALOT! I think NAA should put them on more models. From a good hideout gun to a hiking gun NAA is getting the job done! My 2 favorites are a 2" BL.WID. & a 3" EARL! I swapped the grips on them, which seems to work for me. Their both stoked with CCI G.D.s .22mag.most of the time, but I use Dynapoints which work well also.

I have a .22lr with a 1 1/8" barrel. I own a bunch of .22lr ammo so that's why I bought it. I have the folding grip on it right now and carry 60 grain bullets in it. I love the little thing. Really don't see much of a difference between the magnum and lr with such a short barrel.

I've owned two, both bought new. The first one would occasionally misfire. Thought it was a fluke, sold it, bought another. It too misfired every now and then. Probably once per box of 50. I couldn't live with that. Sold that one also.

My opinion of the .22M is that it is more than wicked. I think it far surpasses the .32's and .380's.

My favorite hunting rifle for turkey and small game is a Savage .22M. I could get by with that gun and no other for a bug out gun.
