Howdy guys, let's pretend a friend or somebody else would have the guns in the poll out on a table and you could pick anyone you want for free because you need a gun and don't have any others - NOT to sell it.
All guns would come with Nightsights, carry gear. ammo and 10 magazines.

Which one would you pick and why? I'm not going into caliber, just weapon type.

For what use? Range gun, HD, etc?

I chose the Sig P228/9 because that's the highest quality gun you have listed. It wouldn't necessarily be the best choice, though, depending on the conditions. I have a Sig 226, and while it's my most accurate service autoloader, I don't carry it because it rusts too easily. I HATE the blued mags for this reason. If I get another Sig, it's going to have a stainless upper.

If I were to pick a pistol to take on a sea kayaking trip, it would be my Glock 17. I can't comment about the other pistols.

I picked (in the poll and real life) the P99. I wanted a tda trigger, which it delivered, and I wanted a gun with a very short trigger reset, which it also had. It also has a tennifer finish and changable grip panels so I can make it fit my big hand. If you like a glock style trigger however you might not like the p99 AS at all.

I would like to try an m&p sometime though.

I voted Glock (G19 specifically). Lightweight, high capacity, low recoil/cheap ammo, corrosion resistent, CCW-appropriate size. Second choice would've been a Sig 229, second only due to weight issues.

G19C

G19C because I already heave one. This freebie would simply make it twice-as-nice.

I voted for the XD since I like those pistols. I do not like Glocks and have never shot a Sig. I have shot a HK USP and liked it a lot. I am not familiar with the HK 2000. The others were never a consideration for me.

I chose the P2000

But the 228/229 would be an equal choice. You mentioned holster, so I assume that you will carry it, and thats why I took the HK, because it is lighter. But as I said, I would be perfectly happy with the 228/229 as well.

Can we try them all out first? :D

I'm leaning toward the XD, since I really liked the one I shot (don't know why I don't own one now, actually), but I haven't even got a chance to really handle an M&P yet, so I can't write it off. They look like sweet guns.

.

I would choose the Glock model 19. Given the parameters of the scenario,
I wouldn't even consider anything else (except perhaps a nice .357 wheel).

having shot and at one time or another owned most of those id take the XD although if a H&K USPC was up their that woulda been my first choice.

H&K Treason...

I picked the H&K. I would hope that everything on the table was in .357Sig. I think as a house gun, truck gun the 229 is perfect. But if I had to have one gun it would also have to be for CCW too and while you can CCW the 229 it's easier to CCW to H&K. They hold the same # etc. Both great guns, I love the sig but that slight edge in EASE of concealment got me.

I said the XD service. You didn't list a 1911 as an option. If this is a do anything, one and only pistol, then I think the full sized pistol is a viable choice. The mag capactiy, sight radius, low bore axis, grip safety and reliability record of the XD's make it a good choice. Now if you'd have said for mainly CCW, I'd have said HK p2000.

I went through this decision for a carry and range gun. Something compact but still fun to shoot. As much as I like Glock's simplicity, in the end I went with the P2000.

They're all great guns, but overall I liked the P2000 the best.
