Which ones HURT to shoot?

.460 from a 5" tube. . . 10 is about all I care for before shoving in some .45 LC

My keltec p-11 isn't fun to shoot and stings me, but easy to carry, always runs, and I can hit decent with it...... BUT the old AMT .380 can bite harder than my .41 magnum if I'm not ready to roll. :what:

I have over 6000 rounds through my 500 Mags and over 3000 rounds through my 460 Mag.

Great guns, no problem with wrist or hands.

J, K & N frames, SA & DA Rugers, oem and aftermarket grips, DW 357MAX, 44 & 45lc loaded HOT. The only hand gun I own that makes me cry uncle is my 4" Python. The web of my hand really takes a beating from it.

The John Ross .500 S&W magnum is a real bitch but I have heard those .357 airweights with full house loads can be worse.

My old man had a 410 derringer. Took it right out of his hand the first shot, bruised it badly the second. I dont like firing a lightweight .38sp with hydrashoks, so I haven't even tried the 410 yet.

I've never owned a .44 but I've shot a few. The model 29's and one Super Blackhawk that I shot weren't painful at all to shoot. The rubber grips on the one 29 did dig into my hand a little but it wasn't painful, just a little unpleasant.

Now a Kel-tec P3AT, that's painful.

I nearly broke my middle finger shooting a first generation Ruger SRH Casull. That was before they changed the grip design. The rear of the trigger guard would smack hard into my finger with every shot.

That was nothing compared with the pounding a Ruger No. 1 with amped up .45-70 slugs gave my shoulder, though.

The worst among handguns was way back in about 91 when I knew nothing of firearms I shot a friend's Glock 17 and PUT MY THUMB BEHIND THE SLIDE! The results were memorable.

Try mine and I bet you'll change your mind.
The Encore in 460 is ugly. It has neither the weight nor the muzzle brake of the revolvers. The 15" barrel helps but it still provides too much whammy on the shooter.
After 4 rounds, I pulled that barrel off and stuck the 22-250 back on.

I have a short barrel Ruger super blackhawk, that hurts espcially when I tried some 300 gr handloads. I never load to max levels so that was not a problem, but even with heavily crimped loads, after a few shots, the recoil was so heavy the other bullets were pulled forward and locked the cylinder..

One of the little S&W titanium framed m-60 38 specials tend to hurt a bit, as does one of the North American arms 22 magnum. There is not enough grip the get ahold on that little piece.

feets,
I have had a Encore in 460 Mag, and for your information, my 460 and 500 Mags have end caps, no muzzle breaks. Also I have a 500 Mag in an Encore. Sure there is a lot of felt recoil, But I shot it without a problem..... So the Encore 460 is not a problem, maybe it is the recoil sensitive shooter..lol

I never went for a Smith Model 29, but I briefly owned a Smith Model 657 when they had the wooden grips as shown. After shooting a half-dozen or so rounds, I felt like I'd run the palm of my hand over a cheese grater!
About the rubber grips, they never appealed to me and didn't seem to fit my hand right.

My magnum revolver of choice after this experience was, and remains, a Ruger Blackhawk.
