Which pistol/rifle combo would you carry into war?

Probably not a big one, Voland. I lean 1911A1/M14, and at 30 I'm probably a whelp in a lot of these guys's eyes...

(Actually, I prefer 1911+pump-shotgun, but that may just be a "default setting" toward CQB and midrange-fighting work.)

I'd go Sig 552 Commando or 550 (reliability of an AK with the accuracy of an AR) and a P220 Combat. I'm not a Sig nut, I've just fired both and I know what works well. Saudi special units carry the 552 and so do the Swiss. To me, that speaks for reliability, and I would prefer a .45 in almost anything with the exception of a 1911, I wouldn't rule out Glocks or anything of the sort, I just would prefer the 220 combat... True, your 1911 may be an absolute work horse and has never had any malfunctions, but then again, I doubt you've dragged it through sand, mud, and New Jersey tap water and picked it up and pulled the trigger. 1911s are nice, yes, but not something I want to rely on when the fecal matter hits the air circulator.

Diamondback6, I am 31 so I think we are in the same boat... I have a feeling though that for the most part, the divide would be along the lines of whatever the US military was using at coming of age time for most people...

OR... you were being sarcastic and hadnt helped this thread at all...

Bingo. As someone who has been to two wars now, I do get a bit annoyed when someone asks "Hey guys lol what guns would you take to war lol?" I'm just surprised that dual-wielding gold Deagles hasn't been brought up yet, because after all, that's the best way to go.

Wow two armys that seldom go to war hell one of them is neutral , I guess that really speaks for reliability though. Just in case you couldn't tell that was sarcasm. Seriously what major power is at war more than the good ol USA? I trust my superiors to test and provide me with the best equipment US tax dollars will buy. To think that some other nation has superior firepower is simply un-American.

Probably the CZ 452 and a brick of ammo plus the Speed Six. The CZ is very quiet as it is and can be made even more quiet. And I've killed a great many things with it already. If I absolutely have to shoot at someone who can shoot back, I don't want him or his friends to know where I am. Plus I want a light load so I can sneak away. I have no interest--ZERO--in openly charging or taking positions or popping corners. I would want to be able to kill quietly, steal his things, and get away afterwards.

Yeah, right! Guess you've never heard of the term LOWEST BIDDER when it comes to military contracts, eh?

I'm even younger than you, but I suspect that there would be a larger age gap than you give credit. I would think some of the younger fellas would favor Glocks and other polymer pistols that hold more rounds because of their double stack build. Not to mention that alot of the same crowd prefers the AK's and SKS's for battle rifles, largely because of price and to a lesser degree-reliablity. Some of the older fellows in here(again, there being exceptions) would prefer the 1911 war horse and the M16 rifle/varient. Just my own take on how the trends in gun preference change as you move from one age group to another.

i agree with you, except most of the younger guys i know prefer an ar15/m16, sig 556 or something similar.

edit: btw, can someone inform me how to quote the proper way where it gives the blue hyperlink to the original post? such as post 28. for now i just manually type in [quote=.... i only see an icon for quick reply on others posts.

i'm 32 and i would pick a glock, and initially i mentioned my rifle choice would be a ak47, but now i'm thinking i might tak one of those new 6.8mm ar type rifle's i saw on guns&ammo tv show. very nice ballistics and ammo isn't huge so you can carry a crapload of it.

Yes but the lowest bidder must meet the standards of the requested design. With that said even though Colt has been the lowest bidder on prior contracts are you saying Colt doesn't make a quality product? Just so you know Lighthouse for the Blind makes some of our uniforms.

alright guys, as originally stated, this is for whatever you would choose, not what is issued by any military!

FNP90 + Beretta 92FS, worked on stargate, and if it works on aliens it should easily work in urban or jungle warfare
