Which rifle would you prefer

I can't think of any possible use for which I would prefer the Mini. I would go with the SKS.

If you could only have one of these two rifles which one would you pick, an SKS or a ruger mini 14?

I've already made that decision: Mini-14.

The Ruger because you can get parts and does not attract as much attention. I have a very nice Russian SKS, it is well made but forget about parts that fit right off the shelf. And attaching a scope to an SKS sucks at best.

Scope mounting, 20 or 30 round capacity, parts availablilty, manufacturer support give the edge to the Mini (cost aside).

Take the SKS over the Mini-14. A much more reliable carbine.

I have an SKS if that tells you anything. Mine is a Yugo and I really like it.

Depends on the SKS ... if it were a Russian or Albanian, the SKS

If your talking a Yugo ... it would be a toss up.

On second thought, even if it was a Yugo I'd go with it ... and spend the difference on ammo.

tough one sks is a proven war rifle but the mini 14 has better aftermarket potential
