Hi guys I am looking to buy a sub $250 scope for my rimfire!

So far I have narrowed the choice to

Nikon 6725, Prostaff Rimfire Riflescope, 3-9x40mm $175 delivered
Burris Rimfire 3-9X40mm $165 delivered
Weaver 849431, Rimfire 2.5-7x 28mm $237 delivered
Redfield 118450 Battlezone .22 Scope, 2-7x34mm $239 delivered

I use to get my scopes from the US but nearly all manufacturers have asked US stores to stop exporting to protect there overseas distributors!

Remember if these prices seem high, I am in OZ!

I know Leupold scopes to be good from what friends have told me, but here in OZ a

Leupold 113872, VX-1 Rimfire Riflescope, 2-7x28mm would run to $279 delivered

I know it only 30 bucks more but I am trying to stay sub $250

I'm a big fan of Bushnell and Nikon scopes. That Nikon ProStaff scope you listed is an outstanding buy and I highly recommend it. I really like that BDC 150 Reticle and it's repeatable.

BTW, you can get that scope for much less than $175 from SWFA Outdoors. I have been buying from them for a good long time and they are a high class operation. you are in luck, even though their regular price of $149.95 is good they are having a sale so take off another $30 for a price on $119.95!

If it helps I will be shooting this rim fire between 25-100 yards

Parallax settings are as follows

Burris 50 yards
Nikon 50 yards
Redfield 75 yards?
Weaver 50 yards

Legend Ultra HD

Check out the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD. I stuck one on my Kent 22 and it works swell. It is a 3X9X40 with parallax adjustment on the side. I can set the dial to 10 yards, crank the power up to 9X and it is crystal clear. My other rifle scopes range from Leupold, Nikon Monarch, ProStaff and Buckmaster and some cheaper Bushnells. I will have more Legends.

Not sure where that Redfield is made but they are owned by Leupold. I have a Redfiled Revolution on my 06 and I love it. Very good scope for the money. Revolution is made in US and Revenge....over seas all use Leupold glass.

I would also strongly recommend a Mueller APV for a rimfire. It's a fantastic scope for the price.

The only scope I have out of that bunch is the Prostaff rimfire, but I like it quite a bit. The BCD is pretty, handy, I was actually using it to sling little 17 HMR pills out to 3 and 400 yards yesterday. I was pretty well on elevation wise, but the 20 mph crosswinds played hell with those skinny bullets. I like that the scope is not too heavy or bulky for a light, handy walking around gun. Most folks I've let try the rifle have been impressed with the scope, especially for the price.

one time I was in at Scheels years ago and the salesman told me that the reason they push Nikon so hard was that they made more money on Nikon per scope than any other brand. For what that's worth... I like their bino's I don't like their scope eyebox. Of your options the weaver is the class of the bunch.

I bought the Vortex 4-12X40 with AO and BDC , It is awesome a very good scope and works well with the 22 rimfire, Have it mounted on a 10/22 Target can put 5 shots in a nickel at 50 yrds . Have it set 50yd zero next hash mark is 75 and the next is 100 works like a charm.

I voted Burris after my outstanding experience with their warranty support. If they offer the same warranty in Qz as they do in the US you can't go wrong with them.

I also think Nikon scopes are a great value, although then tend to be large.

can you get a mueller apv in australia? 4-12x40 AO, pretty good glass for 130 bucks in america. They are really popular over on rimfirecentral and I have been pleased with mine.

vortex also makes a rimfire in your price bracket and I have been impressed with their offerings for the price point.

for whatever reason, maybe the huge rear bell, I have never been impressed with nikon's scopes. I liked redfield early on, but their prices keep creeping up. Burris fell from my favor after they stopped including scope covers (It's pretty I know, but it just chaps me a little) I like weaver, but they have been bought and sold so many times lately I would have warranty concerns.

Are you sure 240 is the best you can do on a weaver? I can get one off amazon for 150.
Of the 4 you listed I would get the burris.

I have a couple of the Nikon ProStaff scopes on rimfires and they have been nothing but good from the word go. Great glass, great light gathering power, and stays on zero forever. I don't know what else to ask for except AO. That would have been nice but they are still great scopes.

i have the weaver and really like it. Over here it was about the same as the Nikon. For those prices I'd go with the Nikon.

I voted other because I really like Mueller Optics. I have one on a Rem 700 .223 rifle and it has been superb, the 8.5-25x50. Clarity is on par with my Nikon Monarch and an old Leupold VX-II. I would not hesitate to buy another and in fact plan on purchasing their Hybrid model for a .270.

Out of the options you listed I would choose the Nikon. I have a pair of Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40s, on my CZ 17 HMR and Ruger M77 Compact .223. They are very good scopes for the money and serve their purpose. And for the price ArchAngelCD is extremely hard to beat!

I believe ITAR gives him no option to buy that.

I can also add to the list: Vortex Crossfire II 2-7x32 V-Plex Rimfire $220 delivered parallax 50 yards!

Yes there are a lot of products I have wanted from the US in the last 3 years and the list of non exportable s seems to grow and grow. I think its part of a conspiracy to disarm civilians around the world!
