Which semi-auto pistol would you bet your life on out the box?

If you have to pick up a brand new semi auto "HANDGUN" and go to a gunfight, which gun would it be. For me it would be a Glock, any Glock. If all you other smart guys have got there first and have taken all the Glocks my second choice would be a Sprinfield XD anything. I hate em but I have owned one and they do indeed work everytime (provided you grip the gun the right way). Notice that I said semi auto and not revolver. I love revolvers but I am looking for which semi-auto handgun you guys believe will go bang everytime you pull the trigger. Be honest. By the way, just to show that I am not biased, I am currently carrying a Kimber 1911, BUT I would not choose any 1911 under the parameters given, especially a Kimber.:what: It works now.

All of my XD's have performed right out of the box and have never had a hiccup with any of the thousands of rounds I've put through them. So my choice would be the XD.

Hope this helps.

Fred

springfield xd(shoots everytime provided you grip it at all like its a gun) .. glock... and honestly ive had nothing but pure reliability out my s&w sigmas(3rd gen)... berreta 92,, sigs... hks .... and my taurus pt1911 has run great from box till now so it too... but i would way rather have a rifle... ar or ak platform... m14 or some such ... or a shotgun...

It depends on the distance...up close My 10mm glock, fnp 45, etc. at 50+ yds I would go with my full size kimber with the 45 super loads. Keep em clean and lubed and most of them work as advertised.

+1 on the Sigma (current production). Got 5 and not one has ever given me any problems. Thousands of rounds through them and had 1 failure-to-feed due to me limp-wristing it.

The other one out of the box would be Glock.

Out of the box a Springfield TRP, or Kimber Warrior (those specific models). If those weren't available a BHP in 9mm, Glock 17, S&W Sigma (current 3rd gen VE suffix models), S&W M&P in any caliber, any DA/SA Ruger, any 3rd Gen metal frame S&W.

Because of past experience,
Makarov first and Kimber second.

Glock would be far down my list.
Just last week a neighbor bought a new G19. Sure enough we had several jams in the first couple magazines. That's par for my experience with Glocks.
A few months ago a friend tried to give me a almost new G26. I really tried to like the gun but I gave it back to him. Best I can recall it jammed about 8 times out of about 200 rounds.
I haven't been around Glocks, either shooting them or others shooting them, that they they didn't jam.
I'm not bad mouthing the Glock, that's just been my experience with them.

I took a new Makarov from the box and began (non destructive) testing it for 1,000 rounds to TRY and make it malfunction.
There was not one gun caused malfunction in those thousand rounds or since then. There was one dud round and the gun didn't fire once on the first trigger pull because there was mud between the firing pin and hammer. The gun fired on the next (DA) trigger pull.

I heavely greased the gun and then froze it.

I filled the gun with "pocket lint", and many other tests to try and make it malfuction. It just emptied magazine after magazine.:)

I've got three HK's. 2 P2000SK's and a P30L. They have all worked perfectly from the first round with any ammo. So I'd go with any HK from the P2000 timeframe and newer with 100% confidence.

My Mak has also been a real winner, but the crappy Monarch ammo that is available for them seems to have bad primers on occasion.

I've never had a bad round or WWB, Federal Champion or Rem UMC.
