I am very familiar with that model and it is a very nice gun. I believe it has had factory trigger work along with being cut for moon clips. I keep a moonclip loaded and every time I am carrying that gun it is a very easy way to do the initial load and God forbid if I ever have to use that gun I am guaranteed a positive complete ejection of all five rounds. I also carry a speedstrip for my reloads because you may find moonclip speedloading with longer cartridges can be a challenge. All in all, you made a really nice choice

I have been steady shooting the LCR9mm for over three years and never had that problem. And I very seldom target shoot it. It is all fast action, many times as fast as I can pull the trigger. However, I never ride a reset on any firearm. Just a natural movement of going all the way forward. I have too many guns to learn the reset on all of them. And trained early age to not do this. Maybe you could try this and it might be a solution.

PS Thank you PD340 for that info concerning the the 642 cut for moonclips and trigger job/enhancement.
 
I was going to recommend a M640 because the OP said he likes a Centennial frame and steel. In the third page he said he bought a M642 with not steel but an Airweight he said he didn't want, to figure.

I carry a M442 daily but also like the M640, M649 and of course the Chief's Special.

The PC 642 and 442 come with a few aesthetic flourishes and a trigger job that includes lighter springs and polished internals. The trigger is notably improved.
 
For a commodity priced self defense snubby I'm very happy with the lcr. I rather like the trigger and have had no issues short stroking it in actual use. I can't handle .357 in a gun that light and even the hot .38 specials sting a bit, but it works. If I must have more power than factory .38 +p offers the boutique suppliers load some pretty warm stuff that seem to venture into .357 ballistic territory. I have a 3" gp100 and although some have called it a snubby I really can't imagine it as such. It prints like a full size pistol and drags my pants down. Not worth it for the extra round, or for how I prefer to use a snub.
 
My EDC is a LCR 357. It's light weight and small stature make it the ideal carry piece. I carry it IWB or pocket depending on my attire for the day. I occasionally carry my SP101 DAO 357 OWB more towards the the cooler months when I have extra clothing to cover it.

Would also be interested in knowing how the moon clips work for you in a 38. Looks like a nice gun. Good price too.
 
A no lock 442 for the pocket a older 36 because they are no lock for the waist. That’s this weeks carry so I figured I’d suggest that. Most of the time Two 442s work. 0E11550B-021F-4A73-ADE8-DB3AFEF51E0E.jpeg
 
My original thought was to get an all-steel pistol. I did have two and liked them but my boys raided the safe one evening, with my okay, and I was left bereft of snubbies. When I started thinking of replacing one, steel was what I was familiar with. But more research and really realizing I could handle the lighter weight plus it made more sense for carry, I looked at eight different guns in the store. The 642 fit well, it was Performance Center which means it had a factory trigger job, was the smoothest trigger of the ones I handled....and the price was right. Sooo… I changed my mind.

I missed the range today, maybe Thursday.
 
The 36 was like new when I got it. It’s fun to shoot and one of my waistband guns. It came with the original wood grips but I needed rubber for shooting.
 
Y'all are naughty people and instigators. You tempt me to buy more guns! After reading this thread off and on, I had a moment of weakness . Now I have a Colt Detective clone made by Miroku on its way to my FFL. I'll post pics when it arrives.
 
SP 101 I consider the extra weight a plus.Especially with the heavy loads I use , I have an LCR but with +P 38's or .357's it can actually hurt your hand to fire it,

magtech 38 cbc shorts and any maker’s wadcutters make shooting a 38sp snubbie a dream. here is my ccw. btw the shorts fit fine a speedloader too. i get shorts online at sportsmen’s at low $20s per box of 50.
 
Look at a Security Industries in .357. The same size as a S&W 60, even takes same grips, BUT unlike the S&W, has a crowned barrel, recessed cylinder, target hammer, and factory trigger job.

They are REAL hard to find, only made for a few years but if you can find one GRAB IT. They are REAL cheap, nobody knows about them. I own a 2" .38, a 2" .357, and a 3" .38.
