Which would you carry?

Assume equals ass-u-me. Just an idle thought. For the most part it matters not what you carry (weapon selection) as you most likely are not going to be involved in exchanging weapon fire with others unless you are military or law enforcement. Weapon selection by a citizen is their individual choice on the other hand avoidance of stupid people, places and things may be more significant then weapon type choice. Weapon caliber and capacity are endless discussions full of chatter pro and con. Yes each month in NRA publications there is the ?Armed Citizen? column. There is also the environmental of where one resides and occupation factors. I have not been involved in a shooting incident since my Marine Days in Viet-Nam. Do I conceal carry yes. My EDC is a S&W Shield 9X19mm. Should there be a shooting incident I'll either survive or I won't as no one promises you tomorrow.

What happens in the event is independent of what the likelihood of its occurrence had been previously assessed.

considered it as a CCW gun.
so let us know how your next ccw session with that glock 29 goes. i would love to hear that it is controlable and effective in that situation. my glock 30 with 45 super loads is a handful but is controllable and certainly effective.

With some round about testing with other platforms I've determined that full house 10mm runs pretty much as fast and accurate as .45 with a similar platform, in my hands.

But I've got to try a lot harder to make 10mm keep up, which means a whole lot of focus I might not have in an SD situation.

.40 is easier even still to get good hits, faster, which is why I said earlier I'd go with the 23 (though in reality I actually prefer a 9mm).

Mileage and philosophy may vary, but in my view 10mm is slightly harder to control than .45 and certainly doable, if one puts in the time and effort.

I have no idea.

I carry eight, and I would prefer twelve.
and i always carry a bug so i don't carry an extra mag for the glock 30, or glock 19. the bug won't be effective in the woods other than against two-legged creatures.

I started carrying a back-up gun recently, for a different reason--for access to the gun with my left hand while strapped into the driver seat.

my glock 30 is running a 230 grain xtp @ 1,000 fps muzzle velocity (45 super load); close to the 10mm in recoil i would imagine; slower to get back on target; agreed, certainly doable!

for access to the gun with my left hand
ditto, with the added benefit of having to shoot weak hand. that is a skill everyone should aquire, imo.

p.s. i carry owb @ 4:00 (strong (right) side) which precludes (impediment to the draw) carrying the bug in my right pocket. this is not the reason i switched to the left pocket, but is an added benefit to the move.
