Hi Bob

Not as pretty as yours, but here are my Colt New Frontier and Ruger Blackhawk, both chambered for 45 Colt.

No idea how many rounds I have put through the Blackhawk, but I have had it since I bought it new in 1975. The New Frontier is a much newer acquisition. My notes say it shipped in 1965.

I must admit, the grips do not fit the New Frontier all that well. One of these days I should probably look into some nice wooden grips for it.

Nice picture, thanks. I especially like that dark grip on the Blackhawk. Mine is the convertible model and has the same 7.5 inch barrel. I got it second hand back in the mid-80s. I can't even guess how many tens of thousands of rounds have gone through it. With the extra cylinder it is also my favorite 45acp handgun.

I would love to try a Colt SAA but never had the chance. Guess I'll just have to 'get by' with all my Ruger single actions.

Here two .45 Colt revolvers, Ruger Blackhawk and Colt New Frontier:

Can a New Frontier 45 Colt handle 335 grain cast at about 1200 fps using 19gr of 2400 with OAL 1.65” ?

Mid 25k pressure in most guns

I’ve read the New Frontier is strong enough to handle. How long is the cylinder? What diameter are the chamber throats?

0.451” is what I’m looking for

Nice photo, thanks for sharing. Two very good choices that will give you years of use. Keep that round count up. My Blackhawk lasts for about 30 years and now that I don't shoot centerfire anymore my son is blasting away with it.

I would love to find a blackhawk in 45 colt. I've been looking for quite awhile and can't find one anywhere.

Very nice sixguns. Love that Blackhawk.

Same here. When CoVid kicked off I had asked a guy at my LGS to find me a Blackhawk in .45 Colt. Since then I stop in occasionally and he says that at least once a week he does a search for me and has yet to find one.
I am sure one day he will call me with a successful search result.
