Apparently the FBI had been surveilling them including when they went to the gun range to test the new machine gun. The illegal alien crossed from Canada into the US and was picked up by his co-conspirators.

From the article: "The court documents state that when Lemley returned to the Delaware apartment he shared with Mathews, he said the rifle "would have to be cached though because that's an ATF f****** nightmare" and added, "Oh oops, it looks like I accidentally made a machine gun."

Why not just say,

Three white supremacists arrested the day before Girl Scouts set up bake sale at Casper WY Walmart parking lot”? It’s just as accurate!

read the affidavit.

there is NO mention of Richmond.

these tools have been in the USA since August, long before election and gun laws became such an impetus to flooding this year’s Lobby Day.

From the article:

"A law enforcement official tells NPR that the three suspected members of The Base had discussed going to a controversial pro-gun rally in Virginia next week."

Heard it on NPR. (I either missed it, or 'the home-made Machine gun wasn't mentioned on the radio, but something about 'possession of a Firearm with intent to commit a Felony' was noted.)

Of course, when one hears "White Supremacy members, rally, Firearm/intent to commit a Felony" most tend to believe that specific combination could result in the injury and/or death of others.

The additional info regarding a 'home made Machine gun' sure shines a different light on things.
(Thanks WK)

Granted, I'm no expert, but IIRC, simple possession a 'home-made Machine gun', without the correct credentials, will get you a Felony / 10 yrs. in Federal.

Even if these 3 had no other intent than showing/perhaps demonstrating the firearm with like-minded individuals at a private location, eh,,, ~things don't always go as planned~ and in this case, the consequences could be rather steep.

Yep, in addition to genuinely concerned VA gunowners; the farouters, Neo-Nazi types and general riffraff will be out in force on the 20th.

Just keep in mind that the MSM is going to use ANYTHING to trash this coming Monday.

Its extremely unfortunate that internet hyperbole is now considered a "threat".

FAUX is the only network not carrying the article. :p

The Richmond meeting, 8:00 AM, at the Pocahontas Building, 900 East Main St, Richmond, Virginia, is the annual VCDL Lobby Day. All are asked to come
conservatively dressed, i.e. no camo, no long rifles, obey all local, state, and federal laws. This is a peaceful assembly, and VCDL is asking everyone who attends
to bear in mind the leftists would like nothing better than to bait us into acting improperly, to feed their anti-gun propaganda. IBTL

This really isn’t a General issue and discussing the merits of the individuals and various news media won’t go anywhere useful.
