Who Carries at home?

As I sit here, my 75B with 16 in the "clip" and one in the tube is resting peacefully in it's Galco on my side and we live in a nice neighborhood. If "they" ever prove that nice neighborhoods are crime free, then I'll probably stop carrying in house.........although I'll still have one within reach. My problem is that I never have figured out just exactly who "they" are!!

I don't buy insurance only when I think I'll need it and the same goes for CC.

At home in the boonies, ALWAYS.

When I leave the place I bring 2 guns.

I have never typed on this site un-armed.. not once.

I don't take a shower un-armed and put a stainless steel gun on the soap rack.

The soap rack has suction cups and so can be anywhere on the walls. Mine is just above and to the right of the shower head.

I clean that gun every other day, not that it needs it, and cycle ammo once a month by shooting it these 6 shots.

That is not my carry gun, as it is my shower gun.

My son has his own son, and so my kids are grown.

The last excuse I needed to carry anytime anyplace, was my In Laws murders Easter 99.

Not one day have I gone un-armed since I landed in Boston off the plane from that funeral.

I could give a dam about your state laws, and rode my motor bike in 40 states all armed traveling a round trip from NH to Cal and back.

My NH permit to carry is only honored or reciprical in 18 states, the rest of the states can be damned.

I carry in the post office too, but I make damned sure to not 'print'.

I will no longer fly, and I don't do 'Court'.

I did get a kick out of the No Pants bits.. been there done that, and being naked as the day you were born, scares bad guys more than the gun!

You wanna see a bad guy run, point a gun at him naked...

My LCP goes in my pocket whenever I'm in my yard or my garage. I don't carry in the house but my guns are readily available.

Most all the time. We have one constable and one resident trooper that are miles away from our place. Plus we have ~150 acres of woods behind our house. My oldest son has grown up with me carrying and doesn't question it. My wife has her CCW permit and carries herself so it's not a biggie there at all.

I carry 24/7 where lawful, yes, even in the "can". Sitting here wearing a G19C and a G26.

If you see me without my pants on, you'd better be smiling.

Boy...maybe you want to rephrase that...

If you see me without my pants on, you'd better be smiling.

I just tell the kids it is not a toy, but a tool.

Is that with, or without your pants on?

Now, as far as the thread question, there's always a firearm close at hand in the house. If I leave the house, there's always a firearm with me.

I live in one of the safest communities in the US, but that doesn't mean there is NO crime nor ever will be. I also work out of my home.

I don't plan to have a fire, but have fire extinguishers throughout the house and car. The doors to the house and car are always locked and alarm set every night.

So, I see no reason NOT to carry at home (OC) or when I am out (CC). Every morning its wallet, keys, cell phone, gun.

My $.02.

i usually oc on my property on my huge 0000.2 (about a quarter acre, not that huge, just looks bigger with all the zero's) acre lot in or out of the house, cc when away 75% of the time... but if i don't ccw the other person i may be with usually does.. but i have a 2" revolver in SS .357 and or a Walther p-22 or both... so yes i oc at home... wife and 9 year old son don't bother to comment anymore

Yes I carry almost 24/7 even if I'm sleeping with pants on, there's a j frame in my pocket. I don't sleepwalk and will wake up if someone so much as tried the doorknob to my bedroom. So it doesn't bother me

I live on a small farm and always carry or have one with in reach, as well as the heeler dogs that are out side they pretty much discourage most people but i still carry plus you never know when your goin to see a coyote arround here, and they play heck with the deer hunting.

When I get home gun come out of holster and put on the tale usually. It is sitting right next to me now. I live alone, so if I am going to be alone for the night I have my guns out and around. If I have visitors it depends on who it is, if there are kids around they get locked up and/or put out of reach, if it is just (certain)friends I might just put them someplace handy but out of sight other just leave them where they are. Now I don't carry them all around with me and have what happens if I go take a dump and someone breaks in and my gun is on the table? But, then I think what happens when I am taking a shower? Should I have a gun in their with me? I can't live my entire life with a gun on me (as great as that sounds :D ) I head out and have a few drinks from time to time and I leave my guns at home then as well. I won't trade living life for 100% security, but I will have as much security as I can while enjoy it.

I'm in Maryland. That's the only place I'm allowed to carry a gun in this stupid state. Actually, the only times I had a gun nearby was during the D.C. sniper situation (and that was just in case I witnessed something strange close by) and Halloween.

Alas, our neighbors brought their kids by two Halloweens ago and they came into the house with their two kids so we could see them. I noticed later that the open gun case was in plain view. I'm sure they saw it. Fortunately, they're Republicans, so I don't think it weirded them out too much.

I am at home most of the time in the middle of nowhere.

I am much more likely to need to shoot a coyote that an invader.

That said, a Remington 870 is in the closet upstairs and down as a primary defensive weapon.

Thus far, They have only been used as a tool.

God/Charles Darwin/Spaghetti Monster knows that you don't need to be armed at home. Crime doesn't occur at home.

95% of the time when i'm home my S&W 581 is within reach. What reason could you possibly have to NOT be armed as often as possible?

It's there.

I dont dare visit the doctor about the pain on my hip. I just take medicine for it. LOL.

Once in the while the wife must swing extra wide to get around the gun and gripes about it. That is wife chasey time as far as Im concerned. :neener:

Great replies guys. One more thing though. My wife grew up with a father that shot competitively and hunted for years, even she would go to the range with him. But,...she is a little wierded out by my carrying. How did yall get your significant other past the initial "worry" about you carrying all the time?
