Who daily carries a full size?

The 1% that may notice are probably carrying too so where is the problem?

This topic comes up a lot so it must be an item of concern to many people who carry a handgun.

I'm not worried about the 99% who don't notice, I worry about the 1% (Personally, I suspect it's more than 1%) who do.

The reason I worry about that 1% is because the odds are very good that those are exactly the people who I don't want paying attention to me.

Cops look for people who are armed, it's just a thing that they do, I don't want cops paying attention to me.

Criminals pick their victims by people watching, I don't want them to know I'm armed unless I have to defend myself. I especially don't want them to know I'm armed (A free gun is a nice, fat, juicy, easy to sell target) unless I have to defend myself because I don't want them to have time to change their plan of of attack to account for my gun. I'd much rather a criminal would decide I'm not worth their time.

OK, you tried different holsters. (By the way I love my Bravo Concealment with the pancake loops) Have you tried a different cover garment? Just get one size bigger T-shirt. (or whatever) A looser fitting garment will allow it to drape down more without catching. (printing)

Also, when you look in the mirror... you're staring at yourself LOOKING FOR IT. The public is not. Pretty good chance you're seeing something nobody else will, or something that's not even there.

Getting a thick T-Shirt helps too.

So in your view, the cops are driving around looking for people who are armed? Uh, so what if they think you're armed? What do you think they'll do to you exactly?

The first part of this seems to contradict the second.

LOGIC?
Criminals are watching people- looking for victims.
Looking like I'm unarmed will cause the criminals to decide I'm not worth their time.

About a month ago in a local fast food eatery, a gentleman with, I assume his wife and daughter were setting, eating. Didn’t take me but a second to notice a rather large gun butt under his tea shirt. The point of the butt made me almost sure it was a 1911 of some kind. I think that even a non gun person could pick up on the fact that this guy was armed.

They do, it's a good idea for them to do so. I'm not a cop but I also try to look for it as well, best to have an idea of who and what is going on at any time, also helps encourage an attitude of situational awareness on mundane tasks.

Amusingly, I have two relatives who are retired (one recently) LEO who KNOW I routinely carry be surprised when they realize I was carrying all day next to them and they didn't notice, and I never carry anything smaller than a Glock 19.

You really get butthurt when people don't agree with your "indifferent concealmeant" world view don't you?

Waste my time. (Kinda like you do) I don't want to interact with the police on any level.

Looking like I have nothing worth stealing on me is more likely to cause a criminal to decide I'm not worth their time.

For future reference I have you on ignore. I put you there to avoid assinine comments like this one. I only saw this post by accident and I won't be responding to any more of your posts. You can comment or not as you like but you'll be wasting your time

I'm about the same, 5'8" medium build. I have no problem concealing any of the pistols in my earlier post.

Maybe one of us is doing it wrong? ;)

Thanks for the pic Mainsail. It explains a lot. For one, I have a thinner torso than you. From the pic and the suggestions, I see the difference between us is you both seem to wear a jacket, vest, or other "cover garment?" To clarify, I can conceal a G19ish sized gun if I'm wearing coat, jacket, etc. If I'm wearing a t-shirt or if I get to where I'm going and take my "cover garment" off, I'll print. If I'm going out to eat, go to someone's home, if it's durring the summer months and I have nothing on other than a light t-shirt, etc, it's a definite no go.

This is a little closer to what I'd wear on a casual day upper body wise. Wearing a bigger/longer shirt isn't going to make a difference, and keeping a cover garment on isn't always appropriate.

It would be more productive if people who conceal full-sized guns post pictures along with those who say and they can't pull it off so we could visually see where the discrepancy is. Just listing height and weight doesn't doesn't paint the whole picture.

Not that skinny, and sorry for the poor light.

Been working out a lot the past few months and while the weight isn't dropping much my waist is going down and my muscle mass is building. Hoping to get under 200 by next year.

I posted this earlier, and I apologize for the crappy pics, but I think youll get the idea.....

This is basic summer attire for me. Tee shirt, sometimes a Polo, over a "wife beater". Im 5' 6" and usually run around 165#...

i applaud those of y'all who appendix carry. Makes my stomach hurt just looking at it and thinking about sitting down, though.

I'm in the crowd that doesn't like to show my hand even though OC is perfectly legal and common here. The last couple of days I have had to wear more fitted attire at work. I've got a Shield stuffed IWB in a holster that holds a spare magazine sitting at about 4 o'clock. I'm 5'10, 205lbs and broad at the shoulders with a size 32 waist. If I wear an XL tee over a tucked in tank top, the Shield disappears for the most part. It may print a bit, but not that much. That said, my usual "uniform" of choice this time of year is a tucked in size large tee shirt with a flannel either buttoned or open and untucked. A flannel is work appropriate (I'm a contractor. Plus I was a teenager in the 90s.). It's weather appropriate (great for layering). It hangs on my frame like a blanket fort due to my 44-46 shoulders. If I wear an XL flannel, which fits me well in the shoulders and back, I am left with a cavernous space to OWB a full size gun. This time of year I usually opt to carry my p320 because it's lighter than my 1911 and holds more rounds. As I have said, I'm a big baby when it comes to gun weight, so I usually opt for my the Shield instead, but on days where I can hide it, I have been carrying the SIG in a canted holster. This time of year, people crowd up. Crowds make people act irrationally and are easier to damage if someone wanted to cause mass casualties. Crowds make me nervous, but 16 rounds over 7 makes me feel a bit better, so the 320 tags along if possible.

I really don't want to draw attention to myself. I try to make myself an unattractive target for a criminal. I'm fairly stout, I walk upright and with a purpose, you don't see me looking down at my phone so I can actually see whats around me. I also don't look like I have anything worth taking. I wear $12 jeans, an 8 dollar tee shirt, I buy my years worth of flannels when they are on clearance at Kohl's. My boots cost $100 but you would never know it since I work in them and they are beat to hell. The most expensive thing in my pockets, including my gun, is my pocket knife that is between $300 and $450. Nothing about me screams soft target or worth the effort. I'd rather "dress around" presenting myself as difficult mark rather than dressing around a full size gun and grumbling about my aching back.

I usually wear a sport jacket to church, but at lunch I do not want to eat with the jacket on. So when dining I may remove the jacket and I guess at that point it's open carry, although in five or six years nobody has noticed or said anything about it. With the jacket hanging on the back of the chair the gun is not really visible (cross-draw or strong-side), so the only time it's really exposed is when I initially remove the jacket and when I stand up to put it back on.

It's a forum, where people discuss things. Whether you agree or disagree is irrelevant. You've told what you believe, but will not or cannot explain why you believe it.

Waste my time. (Kinda like you do) I don't want to interact with the police on any level.
Interaction? What interaction? If your statement is true, that you "don't want to interact with the police on any level," then you're good to go. The police cannot detain you (forced interaction) for lawful behavior.

For future reference I have you on ignore. I put you there to avoid assinine comments like this one. I only saw this post by accident and I won't be responding to any more of your posts. You can comment or not as you like but you'll be wasting your time
This is called cognitive dissonance- look it up. I apologize for the discomfort you feel over the issue, and that I couldn't play inside your echo chamber. ;)

Don't worry though- I'm not a mod favorite so your personal attack will not garner their attention.

I carry what I shoot best!

Two guns tie for top honor and daily carry, just depends on which one I grab before walking out the door.

A Ruger GP-100 357 magnum with a 6" barrel

OR

A Smith and Wesson 686 357 magnum with a 6" barrel

When I got my first carry permit in 1981 I wore a nice shoulder rig with a big custom Smith 9mm double stack and two extra clips.
That got old pretty quick (5'6" 142lbs) and I went to .380. In the 90's I got a Kimber that changed my mind about .45s. I often carried a officer sized CCP model. With the improvement in ammo I moved back to 9mm and a nice Sig 938.

Here in Iron County many people carry their shooting irons openly. They don't need to downsize in order to hide their guns.
Sometimes I do too and carry a Dan Wesson commander sized .45 bobtail. Thats pretty big.

Maybe this summer I should OC to the Shakespeare Festival. ;)

I don't really pay much attention to concealed ones (about as common as wrist watches). I did notice a well worn Colt Detective Special (Maybe 40% bluing on what I could see) being open carried (little less common) on an outside the belt holster by a Senior at the Cracker Barrel. He happened to visit the rest room while I was in there and I asked about it and he said it was a pre-war .32-20 that had belonged to his father.
