Who Has Boyd Rifle Stocks? Lets See Them

I have a grey/black laminate on a M48 Mauser. It fits great and was pretty much a drop in fit. I don't have any pictures right now and the rifle is completely disassembled for a thorough cleaning, safety change, and glass bed project.

I had one on a savage build I did. Fit was fine for the stock rifle.. had to do some mods as I went to a thicker recoil lug and barrel.. but that's to be expected. Inletting was accurate.

I hated the recoil pad they shipped it with and wished I had gotten the 20 dollar upgrade to a pachmyr recoil pad. Well made stock for the money you pay for them.

I put one on this Savage Hog hunter in .308, huge improvement over the horrible plastic piece of junk that came on it. The Boyds stock fit really well, feels solid and looks great.

My Tikka in a Boyd's Classic.

The fit was perfect as a 100% drop-in, and the finish is great, although it seems just a bit too slick in my hands. I'd probably spring for checkering or stippling next time to get a little added grip. I'm hoping it will wear in a bit as I use it. And, I also added a Limbsaver butt pad to replace the thin rubber pad, mostly to increase the LOP a bit.

All-in-all, I think the Boyd's stocks are a great value, and I'd certainly buy another one.

A Mauser I built in 22-250 years ago from a stripprd German receiver ... It was supposed to be on the "cheap" but as I started acquiring parts I wasn't satisfied with them and bought better parts, I'd have probably saved money if just bought a Kimber in 22-250 as the problems of converting a long action to work for a short action case was a bit more than I was equipped for on my first Mauser build ... But it got done.

The left-over parts went on this cheap Boyd's stock with a Turkish Mauser I'd picked up that had a broken stock.

Remington 700VTR in a Boyd's Classic that I had to hand fit the barrel channel, and to make the pic authentic, my right foot! Shoots sub-MOA now (rifle, not my big toe....).

6X18 Nikon Mil Dot scope. Way too big, but what the heck!

I had a Marlin HMR in the blue laminate at one time, but can not find any pics of it right now. Most people didnt like it, but I did.

There iS some pretty rifles!

I am so undecided on which color sceme of laminate I want!

I have a few rifles with the nutmeg colored laminate,(not boyd stocks).

I have never had a thumbhole stock either. I am left handed and shoot right handed bolt rifles.

I am left handed but shoot right handed and right eye dominate. I really like the thumbhole stock, it is very comfortable to shoot with.

Have a nutmeg on a Stevens 200 also. I really like them. The Mauser took some I letting but I'm fine with it. Sand clear sand clear. A few times and you have a really nice stock

This is my Marlin Model 60 in a Forest Camo Rimfire Varmint Thumbhole. I had to do some inletting for the magazine tube but I got the stock on clearance because Boyd's had just introduced their Model 60 drop-in stocks that didn't require any inletting.

Hi guys!

I called Boyds stocks and asked them a few questions. Firstly, I told them I was left handed and have always shot right handed bolt rifles. Most stocks I can shoot just fine with, with the exception of rollover cheek pieces.

Ideally, I would like to stock my Ruger M77, Tang Saftey, with thier "Prairie Hunter" stock. But am unsure if it would be comfortable for me.

I wanted to ask them if they could inlet a stock as normal, and put a left handed cheek piece on it.

When I talked to the Boyds stocks "lady", and she told me that thier stock designs would not be suitable for a left handed shooter! And that they dont make custom options for thier stocks.

Man! Now I am not sure if she even has a clue about thier stocks, or if I should just forget about ordering one! I am very dissappointed!

I even seen in the left handed stock section that they offer left hand prairie Hunter. And it says :

Left Hand Stocks
Boyds'® Replacement stocks come in a variety of makes and models for the Left Hand shooter. Boyds'® left hand stocks are available in the following designs; Classic, Featherweight Thumbhole, Prairie Hunter, and Sterling. Boyds'® also offer 3 different ambidextrous stocks in the following designs; SS Evolution®, Rimfire Hunter, and TactiCool. We offer options for a Left Hand Stock Right Hand Action and Left Hand Stock Left Hand Action.

Am I just SOL? Or will the standard right hand stocks suffice, as the factory ones have for years?!

Something definitely sounds odd there. I just looked at their Remington 700 stocks, and they list a right-hand action - left-hand shooter version for both the Classic and the Lightweight thumbhole stocks. I don't know why they couldn't do the same to a Prairie Hunter for Ruger M77. Maybe they can't, or maybe they won't. But, I'd call back and see if I could talk to somebody else. Or, (I know this is a Boyd's thread, but...) you could always get a stock in that configuration from Richard's Micro-Fit. They have a $17 up charge for non-standard action/shooter configurations, and they come unfinished. But, at least they're set up to make one how you want it.
