Who has loaded the most ammo on a Lee 4-hole Turret Press over a few days?

I let my ammo get a little low and had some catching up to do!

Over 3 days I loaded 450 rds of .45 acp and 263 rds of .38 Colt Short.

713 rounds over three days and the arm is a bit sore. I've got to work on the car and exercise too so it was time to stop and take a few days off.

I'm sure someone has done more on a turret press. Who's got the best shoulder in the forum? 💪

Progressive press users this thread ain't for you! ✋ 🌬️

I cant do more than 300 of any caliber before I get bored out of my damn mind. I even take breaks after 100.

I do stand up every 50 rds and stretch a little. It's never good to sit for a long period of time.

The brass for 9mm and 45acp for me has already been processed, just needs a primer, a charge, and a bullet. I do 100 at a time. Keep a 30 cal ammo can full for each. Load more as needed. Monkey Shoulder should be something you drink, not something you suffer.

Back when I was developing products and methods hardcore, I was shooting hundreds of rounds of 7.62x54r every other day, sometimes from can-see to can't-see.

The surplus stuff wasn't cutting it precision-wise, so I started reloading using a used Lyman turret press. Every powder charge was weighed on a beam scale because I couldn't afford an automatic trickler but wanted more charge accuracy than a scoop or powder drop would afford.

I eventually broke that press. It had been repaired once before, and it was so old I couldn't find the parts to fix it. So, I bought a Rock Chucker and have been very happy with it. I never used the Lyman as an indexing press anyway; the turret was just a convenient place to put the dies I wasn't using.

I never liked doing .45acp on the Rock Chucker though, and wanted to load them faster. I therefore invested in a Lee auto-indexing light-duty turret press, and use it with a powder-dropper. It works well.

I really have no idea my record on it. I cast my own boolits for .45acp, and loaded those a pound of powder at a time, generally with 5grns bullseye, and chuck 'em into an ammo can. So, what, 7000grns/5 = 1400 rounds? Seems a little high, but I had fun with it at the time, so could be.

That was back before marriage and kids. Today, I'm lucky if I have time to load 100 rounds of anything at a time, and haven't had time to cast in years. I still have a bunch of ammo I made up 10 or 12 years ago, though.

Not to hijack this thread but I’m new at this game and was wondering if it’s normal for the turret to slightly move/raise at the bottom of the stroke?
Thanks, delete this if it’s inappropriate

Long days at work and lot's of call outs never allowed me to load on a single stage, except for rifle. I was always afraid to load rifle on a progressive, so they still get loaded on my single stage.
As far time goes, I still don't have a lot to work with, spent all day cooking outside yesterday for the next 4 day 12 hr/day work stretch, and today have to get cars inspected and split firewood.

I need to load 243Win, 308 Win, 30-06, and 8mm Mauser, all single stage work for me. About a 100 of each for 30-06 and 308. .243s I'm not behind on so far.
All my primer tubes need filled too. That's no fun.
behind again 2.jpg Thankfully 9mm and .357s are caught up at the moment.
Not short on supplies, just short on time as always. Even a progressive press can only go so far. One day I'll be retired (or dead), and time may not be such a bite for me.

But I'm a busy guy, so I doubt it.

I'm still feeling your pain on that one. Kids are gone but not that far away, but Grandkids now replaced the where the kids left off.
They want to shoot to though so I do get a pass sometimes by the better half, to shirk on some chores so I can load for them. That keeps me in 9mms (for me mostly) and reduced loads in .327 FM for both of us.

I may have to get my rifle loading caught up over the holidays.
