I need a pistol refinished fast. Who is the best fastest most economical to go with?

What type of finish are you looking for?
Thats a good question.

Honestly I had not put much thought into it. Long story short, the gun was stolen then recovered, but the finish has marks and some light rust. The comonwealths attorney's office has told me to get a price to refinish the gun so I can get restitution. It is curently parkerized.

So I would really like a two tone black nickle or black chrome that would be very cool, but I dont see that hapening right now. I guess gun kote or parkerized it what I need.

Thanks.

The govt is actually paying a citizen back for something that is pretty nice. You taxes have already paid for this work so get the best work possible.

I am not sure about that, the money might be comming from the guy that got caught with it. In that case I will likely never see a dime.

You may need to stick with Virginia gunsmiths for a park job.

Even with restitution, I doubt that any DA will be willing to enforce shipping out of state for nickle or chroming.

see if you can get it refinished by the manufacturer that's probably a good bet they cant argue about the price or anything if its a factory refinish.

well there is send it out ang get it back in a year then send it out and get it back in 2 months. 2 months to me would be fast.............

Send it back to the factory. Its the best finish you will ever be able to get.

Call them up and I'm sure that they can give you a price and turn around time.

Not to mention the most reputable when it comes to legitimizing the price.

And where, pray tell, did you come up with that pearl of wisdom? Sure some factories do a great finish - and some do a crappy finish. There is no absolute.

Some of the aftermarket refinishers do work the factories only dream about. Few if any factories warranty their finish for life and there are some refinishers that do exactly that.

But as a previous poster indicated, fast is not a good indicater - neither is economical. You (hopefully) get what you pay for and good work takes some time.

For the folks sugesting the factory refinish it,

Part of the condition to me getting it back is I can not get rid of it for a year. It may need to be returned for evidence later as part of a plea bargin. I may not even be able to ship it out of state I wont know for certian until tomorrow. But I really dont think they would like it going out of country it is a RIA ie. Philipines.

But just in case is there a shop in VA I did a quick internet search and got nothing.

It's a Rock Island? Contact Advanced Tactical in Pahrump, NV. They're the US importer for RIA's, and also the warranty center. They're famous for their customer service, and the quality of work that their smith, Arnel, puts out.

it seems to me that all you have to get is a quote. fast and cheap has nothing to do with it. you might need the quote fast, but the job doesn't have to be fast. get a quote for what you think is fair, time be damned.

i'd go with these guys if it were my gun. there's a price list on the website, depending on what you want.

I had a Springfield 1903 that I bought from the CMPs reparkerized at Hot Flash Refinishing out of California. Good job at a decent price. I recall that the turn around time was a couple of weeks. They also have quite a few different finishes.
