from what i've read all the major ar 308 brands are accurate. the 308 round is a very accurate round in itself as well. Of course I have no experience with a 308 ar.
Why do people keep making a big deal about muzzle (16"-20") velocity? If it is such a issue why does manufactures keep making them if there's no demand for it?
Well clearly there is a demand. The "big deal" is made by people who attempt to project their wants/needs/applications onto others. Inside 300yds or so, there is no useful difference between a 16 and 20" barrel in .308 with regard to ballistics with the advantage going to the 16" in a CQB application because it is shorter and easier to maneuver.. Once you start getting into the longer ranges, the slight velocity advantage of the 20" barrel becomes a useful advantage with a slight increase in effective (terminal) range and a very slight decrease in wind deflection.
