Who makes Cabela's line of scopes?

Spend some time on Alibaba trade site (china) with your scope specs and see what comes up? You will find companies that make (and show off) the American or British labels on their products. It doesn't take long to figure out who makes what. BUT, the big deal is whether or not the one you are interested in is rated for recoil and environmental conditions? If it's rated for high forces and waterproof, it will be a decent scope. If not, it'll be junk soon enough.

Good Chinese scopes are not any cheaper than most other suppliers. They only get cheap when they are made that way. Check out Vector Optics - they supply LE and Mil-Spec scopes around the world. Don't bet they'll fog up and come loose while they are shooting at you - they won't.

I know this is a really old thread lol but here is the answer to the original question. The optics/ camera/ lens/ company by the name of Pentax is who makes Cabela's in house optics. It took some real digging but I learned this when I bought a Game Seeker 3 rifle scope from an ex law enforcement officer that is my friends dad. Hope this helps. Have a great day and God bless

No "R" on the windage adjustment knob on one i seen last week. The direction arrow was almost invisible .

Not a quality scope for that reason.

Cabelas branded scopes are made by different manufacturers depending on the scope. Sometimes they even tell you who made them. I have a couple made by Meopta. Says Cabelas on the outside of the box and in big letters on the scope. Has Meopta on the instruction manual and in small print on the bottom side of the scope.

Some are lower quality, some are good quality. MSRP is a pretty good guide. I've found that most optics in the $100-$200 price range or in the $400-$500 price range to be of very similar quality no matter who made it or where.

A Cabela's brand scope I had going on 20yrs ago looked very much like a Tasco to me. Total waste of money.

Their Euro line is Meopta, com block European AFAIK. Arbitrary BDC notwithstanding, they are pretty good. I have one on a Featherweight Model 70 in 30-06.

Cabela's will put out the specifications they desire and give the job to the low bidder. This is the way nearly all private label contractors work. Manufacturer may change from one contract run to another.

I don't have any 1st hand knowledge that that's what Cabela's is doing, but you summed up my first suspicion nicely.

The Cabelas Instinct Euro 3-9x30 is the old Zeiss Conquest, a bargain when on sale for $250 like they are now.
