Awhile back I found out that Cabela's Euro scopes were made by Meopta. People seemed to really like them and they were reasonably priced. Now they seem to be a bit pricey. Does anyone know if Meopta still makes these scopes? If not does anyone know who makes them now? A different manufacture may be the reason for a higher price or is it just the popularity?
Thx

I don't know but the current trend is to make stuff for less and charge more. I would put bet on Philippines or China as country of manufacture. If not marked the product was made in China.

Some were meopta, some were Zeiss conquests. They might have changed them again, or upgraded the meopta. Or gone with a Steiner or something.

The original Zeiss Conquest in a 3-9X40 only, WAS actually USA made by Meopta. All other Conquests were in the $700+ price range and made in Europe. It WAS an exceptional scope that initially sold for $550. Zeiss lowered the price to $399 shortly after introduction to be priced the same as a Leupold VX-3. For reasons unknown Zeiss discontinued that version and replaced it with their Terra scope. Which ain't bad, but isn't as good either and made in the Philippines.

For a while Cabelas sold the exact scope at $399 with the standard reticle and $449 with their BDC reticle. Same price as the Zeiss, same scope other than badging. Cabelas stopped carrying them and had them on closeout for $250 briefly regardless of the reticle. I already had a Zeiss and bought 2 of the Cabelas scopes at $250 and wish I'd bought a 3rd at that price. Cabelas no longer lists that exact scope. I'm pretty sure the others are still made by Meopta. They always showed the other options, it was just the 3-9X40 version that was priced at a bargain. They still show the more expensive 3-9X42.

But... a few days ago on another forum someone posted a link to Cabelas showing them back in stock for $250. I was going to order another, but they were no longer listed just a few hours later. Some guys who tried to order them got one, others were informed that their order was cancelled. Just a guess, but I'm betting they found a few more somewhere and listed them until those sold,

The only place I can find that scope listed is here, and they show them back ordered. Price is $450-$500 depending on reticle. Not a screaming deal, but to be honest a fair price for what you get. I don't know if these will ever be available again, but they are listed here.

All Euro scopes said Meopta on them as of nine months ago which was when I left Cabela's. They are now selling a co-branded Vortex scope. Other than the Euro and Vortex no one at the store level knew who made Cabela's scopes. The Euros had Meopta on the scope and box, all others were unmarked. Other than the Euro I wouldn't purchase a Cabela's brand scope and didn't know anyone at my store who would either.

I must have caught them on sale. I thought the price was $299 at that time. Thank you for the info.
