Anyone have any tips on finding MkII grips that look like the old checkered walnut Luger grips?

Just thinking of ways to dress up a MkII.

Dang, but I love those guns. But the stock hollow plastic grips are most disappointing. I just tell myself Ruger's saving money on grips to lower the retail prifce so that I can spend the saved money on the custom ones of my choice.

Oh, the club high score for this semester at UT was shot using a 5.5" fixed sight MkII. Some big Viking-looking bubba shot a 10-shot string at 50ft at an Int'l 50ft Target, dropped one into the seven ring, five 9 and four 10. Not bad for a college kid with little formal training. MkIIs rock...

Woodgrips has sort of what I was looking for, but only partially checkered. Plus, I've never really warmed to cocobolo, and am immediately suspicious of anyone who describes it as a precious wood. If it's so dang precious, how come it's all over the place?

Should I simply buy the fully-checked version of any walnut MkII grip, and that's about as Luger-like as it gets?
