Who makes the best 9mm pistol?

If there are 50 manufactures, you're going to get about 50 different answers.

Everyone is a little different, that's why there are so many right answers.

I'll give you what I consider to be the top choices

S&W M&P
Glock 17
Sig 226/229 (I think those are the model #s)
Beretta 92FS
Browning Hi Power
CZ-75B, CZ-75 Compact family
Several of the HK models are good, but I have little experience with them, plus parts availability and such turns me off from them. For the price of HK, I'd rather have other pistols.

Those are the ones I feel that are best out of the box. Sure, there are other serviceable 9mm pistols out there, those are just the ones I trust the most. I owned a Glock 17 and only sold it because it simply did not fit me no matter what I tried, but I think it is the king of 9mm reliability, with the M&P running very close behind.

The Beretta 92 is a great pistol, but you must do your maintence of replacing the locking block when the round count interval comes up.

The Sigs are self explanatory, Sig's pretty well known.

CZs are excellent values. I currently carry a -75 Compact. Lots of gun for the money, especially if you buy used.

The HP is my favorite 9mm, it's like the 1911 of 9mms, but I think it has some design improvements over the 1911s. Excellent fit to my hand, they shoot great, like nothing else. I will be obtaining another one in the future. One of the slimmest doublestack 9mms.

I consider the 9mm S&W M&P to be the best all round choice when considering weight, grip (my hands are on the smaller side), reliability, concealibility, and holster and accessory availability. Disregarding the grip, or if you like the Glock grip, then the 17 wins.

For me its my Cz 75 compact...followed closely by a BHP

no price limit? Korth - the craftsmanship is absolutely second to none

Yes, but are they actually shot by anyone? A Glock 17 is what I and many others consider to be of ultimate reliability, and it's five bills (and sometimes less, if you can hunt down a bargain). If I had $5K to spend on handguns, I'd buy two Glock 17s or two S&W M&Ps, 20 mags, and ammo to fill the bill, and go take a couple of classes with a reputable instructor.

When we're talking guns, I'm considering working guns. That usually means under $1K for an everyday carry gun of modern design.

Above $1-3K? Semi-custom 1911. And for those with the cash for it, $4-5K for a top flight 1911.

HK is a very good choice in 9mm.
Gets my nod from the many different 9's I have shot.
Also like Sigs and XD

I like Heckler and Koch USPS. They got a pretty high price tag now though. I haven't owned a XD to judge that one.

The absolute best?

I vote Sphinx 3000 series.

Sphinx Systems Limited is a small Swiss based manufacturer of high quality pistols used mainly by special forces, elite police units and sports shooters. The company has been in business since 1876. Sphinx is best known for its ongoing development of the original Czech designed CZ 75 pistol, which has been evolved into the Sphinx 2000 and Sphinx 3000 designs.

Sphinx manufactures all pistols in Switzerland, slides are made from solid billet steel, frames from casts, forgings or also from billet, and fits each pistol with high quality barrels. Each pistol part is machined to very close tolerances and assembled by Sphinx master gunsmiths.

All Sphinx pistols except the AT380 are shipped with an actual test target, which confirms the accuracy of each pistol.

Sphinx pistols are not mass produced and are fitted to tight tolerances, so Sphinx pistols are more expensive than mass produced products.

Historically imported to the United States, by SILE corporation, SPHINX products are now imported by SABRE Defence Industries.

Sphinx 3000 Series
A full and medium sized defense and sports CNC machined pistol made out of various metals such as stainless steel, aluminium and titanium. The Sphinx 3000 quickly displaced the legendary SIG P210 as the best Swiss made pistol, as the Sphinx 3000 offers the same accuracy and reliability combined with better ergonomics and twice the capacity for ammunition. The Sphinx 3000 was designed as a modern combat pistol with features like a Picatinny accessory rail, a low bore line, extended magazine release, various safety system options, various finishes, sights, pistol sizes and materials to choose from.

Best as in accuracy, relablity, durability and capacity. There is no price range.

See if sigs p226s didn't rust that would be the all time best pistol in 9mm. Even though they are expensive.
