When you're in Wal-Mart, pay attention the next time you see a clerk call for assistance on the intercom. Usually there's a number sequence they put into the phone. Next time you get tired of waiting, punch in the number sequence and state: "Customer needs assistance in sporting goods." It's amazing how fast they respond when they hear an unfamiliar voice over the PA.

Civilians are not police. We have no duty to try and stop anything illegal "in progress".
If you decide to do so anyways, you may be labeled a hero or you may wind up in jail.
As for me, lethal force will only be issued upon a perceived lethal threat. Someone stealing a unloaded long gun from WM does not fit the bill.

Plus when he retired he lost his police powers. He has no more power to stop a robbery in progress than a retired ditch digger whatever he might think.
