Why can't they sell powder in 1/4lb containers?

Have you ever worked up loads using a certain powder and find out it isn't good enough so you move on? Still have the rest of that powder sitting around? I know a couple of times I've bought a lb of powder, used maybe 1/4 of it and moved on to something different cause it didnt perform well.

Why don't powder manufactures sell trial cans in 1/4lb for us who like to tinker with different loads? I recall using one type of powder, didn't like it and gave the rest to Sumpnz.

Anyone else feel they should offer powder in smaller portions as well as the 1lb and 8lb cans?

Hodgdon was offering sample pack of quarter pound samples, but it didn't go over very well. You could get four powders for rifle, or pistol. The last time I saw them offered, they were in closeouts.

There was an outfit several years ago that was setting up to repackage and sell one ounce samples of pistol powders, two ounces of rifle powders, in a display like a spice rack. That was going to make the per-shot cost pretty high but not as high as a pound can left with 14 ounces of powder you didn't like and didn't know what to do with. That didn't go over, either.

I'd have less partial cans laying around if they did! Maybe. I might have still bought the 1 lb ders. Maybe thats why they don't sell em in 1/4's.
