The issue, as seen from reading the many comments and quotes, is not whether guns can help save and/or protect oneself, others, protect against tyranny, is a protected right or granted right, can be exercised or shouldn't be exercised. The question is, why is our nation full of citizens that pursue apathetic attitudes towards self-governance and responsibility, and determine to remain dependent on handouts from the governnment? I'm sure most of you have heard by now the quotes about how no democracy has lasted more than 200 years because once the citizens realize they can become dependent on the government, they become apathetic and quit trying altogether. That is exactly what all the quotes and comments on THR describe when read en masse.
Why carry a gun? Because I'm responsible for my safety and well-being and the government is not. Because I was fortunate enough to be born in a country that, at least at one time, recognized certain liberties and freedoms as pre-existing any establishment. Because I, as a responsible citizen, recognize that my pre-existing rights must be exercised lest the devolution of society find fit to take my rights away.
