Why did you start reloading your own ammunition?

Because my dad couldn't keep up with my shooting...

That was almost 20 years ago. And after he got sick of me being at his house all hours of the night loading (I'm a night owl) I got some great deals at estate auctions on reloading equipment and components.

I actually bought a 357 six years ago just because I wanted to learn to load pistol shells. The 9mm came two years ago.

Now I have passed on my limited loading expertise to family, friends, coworkers, and friends of family. Maybe if we reloaders would keep the secrets of the trade to ourselves, reloading components might not be so hard to find!!! But that's just not me.

I started in 2004 or 2005 when I couldn't reliably find ammo for my new .204 Ruger. Very quickly started loading for almost every other cartridge I own - for some that saves a lot of money and some not as much, but I really enjoy it.

All of the above.
Mainly because I love every aspect of shooting. Loading my own ammo has become a very relaxing and rewarding hobby in itself. I took my first deer with a handload this past December and it felt very good.
I just bought a Blackhawk .45 Colt that will likely never fire a factory load.

KSCCHTrainer: Closetgunnut.....(For safety's sake, please take care not to get distracted!)

I don't load when I'm tired, distracted, frustrated, ect, ect... I learned the hard way.

When I first started my "better half" had a Bad habit of coming over to the bench to talk and stuff. Well, after 2 squibs in one magazine in my M1 Carbine:cuss:, I told her VERY NICELY to NOT bother me while I'm loading:banghead:. Thank God I used to crimp the bullets... They both stayed in the case and didn't make it to the lands.:what:

I haven't had another squib since!

I wanted to be able to build loads for my guns. I also wanted to save money. If I were to buy factory in the quality (the very best premium rounds), I would have 5x the money in it and still not be the best for the gun.
