Why do we want front vertical grips?

This may be an old wives tale, but isn't another reason for the less bladed stance (More square) the fact that a bladed stance exposes one of the big holes in your body armor? You know, that hole that your arm is sticking through.

You are absolutely right - one does not NEED a foregrip to use the proper "fighting stance". Fore-grip - magazine, mag well, they are work. Just use what works best for YOU.

You also bring up an EXTREMELY valid point - TRANSITIONS (from one shoulder to the other) are MUCH easier with a foregrip 'stance' than without. (Foregrip stance meaning the use of a 'foregrip' or magazine or magazine well.)

That is definitely a decent by-product (not exposing your 'weak' spot) - but to the best of my knowledge - that was not one of the driving forces. The biggest driving force was movement.
