Because someone kept buying it at $150/lb. If they keep buying at $160, I would expect to see $170.
...If muzzleloader folks simply refused to pay outrageous prices the stuff would accumulate and the price would drop drastically.
lets do the math of $170 a pound….I experimented with it when Walmart had it for $29/lb. It does burn a little cleaner than 777 or Pyrodex, maybe goes a couple more shots between cleaning, but performance wise there's nothing to make it worth $60/lb or more when the others are $30/lb.

Yep, if it made the difference between me taking an elk or muley at 100yds+, then sure I'd use it. But my testing hasn't shown me any great advantage over 777 or Rs or 50/50 pellets.lets do the math of $170 a pound….
