Why is there not more support for Huckabee?

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee is a hunter and strong 2A supporter; as strong as Ron Paul and without being thought a "crazy" like Ron Paul with his Nazi and Ku Klux Klan associates, but surprisingly there seems little interest on this or other pro-gun forums for him. I don't know too much about him, but with anti-gun Guliani leading Republican polls, liberal-in-conservative-clothing Romney doing well in Iowa and New Hampshire, and Fred Thompson floundering, Huckabee seems a logical choice for the pro-gun crowd. I agree with those who say that ANY Republican is far better for the U.S. than Hilary as President, but I sure would like to be able to support someone who shares my advocacy for the right to keep and bear arms.

Gov. Huckabee just doesn't have the face/name recognition as the other candidates. Little is known about him outside of Arkansas except recent interviews and a few years ago when Letterman did a segment about him and his wife living in a mobile home while the Gov. mansion was being remodeled and his losing weight.

The entire country knows Guliani since 9/11 and Romney because hes Morman. Outside of the internet Ron Pauls name rarely registers. Oh, and most people in America only knew Fred Thompson from Law and Order, not as a Senator.

Its nice to see fellow THR members take the high road and not steal a page from the anti-gunner's playbook of using the "guilt by association" tactic. Its the same tactic they use on us gunowners, equating us with criminals and anti-government nuts.

I've not heard of any substantial support by Ron Paul for Nazis or the Klan.

IBTL!

Nor have you heard Ron Paul publicly dissociate himself from the neo-nazi's and the white supremacists. Just google "Ron Paul Nazi" and see what comes up. I for one would feel much more inclined toward him if he unequivocaly stated his lack of sympathy for, and rejection of support from, these far right fascist groups.

I also haven't heard Huckabee or Thompson publicly disassociate themselves either. All fine candidates, but they won't make a public statement to that effect. Why? Bad Press. To publicly disassociate yourself, is to also associate yourself with them unnecessarily.

I'd like any of the three myself.

Huckabee has always been very pro-gun and a nice guy to boot. A real straight shooter so to speak....

As far as any comparisons to Klinton - Non existant; other than from the same state.

I'm a self professed Fred Head, BUT, if he doesn't get it in gear quickly, Huckabee will be getting my attention. It won't take much for me to move Huckabee to the front.

I agree, name recognition is an issue, and he doesn't come across with a strong, stern personality. He needs to turn it up a notch.

I have not heard him reject specifically Mongolian 3 Headed Baby Terrorists with Crayons either so he must be in favor of them.
