Why no gun version of "Forged In Fire"

I doubt its scripted. I have recognized the names of at least two competitors as well known knife makers. A really poor performance on the show will have bad business consequences. One not so well known knife maker said he didn't sell a knife for 6 months after a bad performance. Its drama derives because they don't have enough time to do the job perfectly or if something goes wrong they can't just scrap it and start over. Hand forging always has a failure rate. So decisions have to be made and time management, something most smiths never have to worry about, crushes a lot of people. But mainly, I don't think its scripted because I have never seen a competitor argue he was robbed and the judges are wrong. A scripted show always has this.

I'm sure FoF is highly edited, but I too don't think it is scripted. Otherwise there would be the whiny drama you mention. That's a major reason I can watch the show when I'm relaxing at the end of the day.

Don't like the show and think it is scripted? Well, watch one of those gosh-darned buying a house shows. Someone in my family loves them.

1. I want granite counter tops.
2. This would be a good man cave for my projects
3. This is a good space for entertaining.

We traded watching the Forge for a Home show. Much domestic hilarity ensued.

I tried to watch Forged in Fire once. All of the dudes heat treated their knives, but never tempered them. Why anyone would want to watch a gun version of that derpfest is beyond me. TV rots the brain anyhow. Go read something.

The knives are tempered after quenching on the night between filming the first two rounds, because watching a blade getting tempered is like watching paint dry.

There have been a couple of gun store reality shows. I think one of the principle characters is in club fed now? IIRC.
A local gun store was auditioned but didn't have enough drama.

Unfortunately only one episode that I know of :)

Amazing craftsmanship. Quite the contrast with Red Jacket where they were inexplicably always grinding on AR barrels with automotive angle grinders, don't you think?

It pleases me that several of the workers were young people learning to carry on the tradition. I'll never be able to afford one of those guns but it makes me happy to know there are still people buying them today.
