Why so few threads in Shotgun forum?

Thanks for that! I've always wondered too. Now I can manipulate the returns.

"Display Options"
Then -
"From The"
Pick a length into the past....

Because they are (typically) inexpensive, work every time, and don't shine on magazine covers with the same luster as an AR. Plastering 4-5 jpegs of your plain-jane 299.00 870 Express doesn't have the same impact as pics of a 1500.00 AR bearing a 600.00 optic.

There aren't thousands of threads on how to maintain them because they're not so finicky.

They're usually not in the politicians' crosshairs. They 'only' hold 5-8 in the magazine. Heck, even during the worst of the ammo drought, you could always find something on the shelf in 12/20/.410 gauges. So the stories just aren't there.

That's why I love mine so much. Short stock, sidesaddle, forend light, and sling--put those on when I got it 14-15 years ago and haven't felt the need to revisit it yet. Just keeps on going.

I agree 150% with Das Wunderkind.

His ideas of practical modifications to the shotgun are very close to my own thinking.

Shotguns just work...period.

That is why there aren't a lot of threads in the Shotgun Forum. Most of my posts involve telling folks not to use birdshot for self defense or telling folks not to try to turn their shotgun into an AR.

Just my .02,

Traffic here has always seemed a little slow to me, and a lot of that has to do with Wunderkind's post.

Some of the traffic may be in the hunting forum.

And, I'm sorry, but shotguns aren't as popular as they were when I started shooting. The long gun of choice for HD or patrol used to be the shotgun, by a landslide. The AR seems standard for patrol now, and a "shotgun or AR for HD" debate seems a lot like "9mm vs .45."
