I am a bit appalled at the fact that the people in this forum could be so short sighted to think left wing automatically equals no gun rights. I do not support most republican/conservatives out here because it is other issues that take higher priority in my discretion of candidates. I am not a liberal, nor a Democrat, but I believe in both freedom of gun ownership, and civil rights/ACLU goals in this country, and it seems a good majority of conservatives at the higher levels of government are fascist, in the sense of extreme nationalism, restriction of personal choice and lack of internet freedoms. There ARE gun owners like myself who actually care about other issues than just guns. So please, can people do us all a favor and at least be informed in statements, and understand that not everybody is on board with gun-loving but other freedom hating politicos?

Hi, and welcome to THR.

One of the rules we all play by here is that we do not engage in purely or overtly political threads, and this can't be seen as anything but that.

We welcome gun enthusiasts of all stripe (age, gender, race, religion, orientation, political view, etc.), and we find that debating or even discussing politics -- beyond that directly related to guns, shooting, and the RKBA -- just sows discord and argument among us. (And believe me, we can drum up enough discord and argument just discussing GUNS! Drifting off into politics just make maintaing civility "mission impossible!")

Having said that, we do work very hard on keeping the "lefty, pinko, commie, socialist, Democrat" slurs to a minimum, just as we try to put a lid on the "fascist, right-wing-wacko, Nazi, conservative" labels coming from the other side. We can't always maintain a perfectly neutral atmosphere here, if only because there is a general consensus that gun control is a major policy plank of one faction of our political system -- more so than their opposition. We want to be fair and honest -- not blinded and stilted in our discussions.

We do welcome all the help we can get from the membership. If you feel someone is creating a negatively politically charged environment in a thread where such is inappropriate, please hit the "Report Post" button and ask the Staff to lend a hand.
