Why the Dearth of 32 Caliber Revolvers?

It's less than the velocity of the 100 grain loads, but it's still a powerful load meant for self defense, same as .38 Special +P is meant for self defense.

When it comes to using a light snub for defense I'm going to choose the load that I shoot well with. 85 grains of .327 has less recoil than 125 grains of .38+P.

So let's rewrite your initial claim. Your choice of a 85 grain 327 FM at 1400 fps produces less recoil at 2.25 ft lbs, (not including powder weight, in a 2.0 pound gun) than a 38 Special +P 125 grain at 945 fps (Federal doesn't have that in their catalog so I went with Remington, but Winchester has the same speeds) at 2.21 ft lbs.

Hmm. I don't think those numbers support your claim either. But you can believe whatever makes you happy.

Not the 85grain loads
The 85 grain 327 is approximately equivalent to a +p 38 special Golden Saber in recoil by my estimation. Recoil is very subjective though. I’ve got two boxes of the Hornady 80 grain 327, I just haven’t tried them out yet.

Recoil is very subjective, but Golden Saber 38 +p feels every bit as stout as the 85 grain 327 from AE. The AE is more snappy, but the Golden Saber feels more… substantial? Hard to describe, but I can shoot a boat load of the 85 grain 327 without an issue.
