The wife's a good shot and go's to the range with me along with her girlfriend but she has never had her own gun, always shoots my guns. After I got a new Ruger Max 9 she sorta got attached to it. Hates the LCP 380. But I've seen her struggle with racking the Max9 and getting it back into battery, loading the mags. Heck even I have problems loading without a mag loader some times.
Well I took her down to the LGS and she bought a S&W M&P9 Shield EZ and she loves it. Heck I even like it. The mags have a built in assist thingy that makes loading easy. The sight picture is better than my Max9.
Now I get my Max9 back and I'll finally get to put on the Holosun red dot I bought for it she didn't like.
Win Win. But her gun's bigger than mine. lol

Tell your wife the LCP 380 kicks on par with a Kahr PM40 - a lot of felt recoil; easy to conceal, unpleasant to shoot.
You wife ended up with a good pistol, 9mm that is easy to shoot. 👍

My son-in-law has one of the 9mm EZs and I like it. The goofy upside down grip safety gives me no problem but I would prefer it wasn't there. Arthritis had done such a number on my wife's hands she can't rack it, take it's recoil, or load the magazines. The only thing she will shoot now is a 22 rimfire and I have to get it ready and hand it to her.

sad to hear…infirmity will come to most of us. being able to put rounds on target in any caliber is a blessing.

i had a s&w ez 9mm. i could live with the upside down grip safety now, but if infirm and grabbing it quickly in an emergency with an imperfect hold im unsure if i would put the pistol into battery properly. seems to be an unanticipated design flaw, imho. that said, what prompted my sale of my ez 9mm was its terribly mushy trigger and imprecise reset. there were too many times at the shooting range when i thought there was a failure to feed when in fact all was ok.

odd thing is i still like enough to keep my ez 380acp. i need to find a rental ruger lite-rack 380acp to compare…

Congratulations to her! I don't have an EZ, but it's no secret that I'm a fan of the Shield line, so I personally think she made a fine choice. I hope it serves her well for many years.
