Forgive me if this has already been discussed. I ran a search for posts and came up with 254-300 pages of results no matter how I phrased the search.

Anyway- now that the AWB has gone to the trash heap of history, will companies continue making neutered magazines for California, Massachusetts, etc.? If not, will folks in those states have to hunt for "during ban" magazines like we used to hunt for "pre ban" mags?

Well, you will probably be able to buy Prohibition era mnagazines for a while, as people will try to sell them wherever they can, and dealers were left with a large stock of them! Century still brings in the 10 rnd WASR mags for CA and such....I don't know about any other importer/manufacturer that is specifically manufacturing 10 rounders, but I'll bet they are....too many customers to miss out on!

When discussing this subject with some folks from two different firearms manufacturers, I was told that CA is only 1 of 6 states that have state laws limiting magazine capacity to a 10-round maximum. The limited capacity magazines will remain in production for those states (although I haven't looked at the language used on the newest 'high capacity' ones, if any), as well as in distribution channels, since the expiration of the federal ban had no effect on those states.

Naturally, it's still possible for such a federal ban to again become law, and I'd think the manufacturers are prepared for such an eventuality.

California is the state with the greatest population. Business people are not out to make NO money - if people in California will buy thier product, be assured that somebody will provide it.

And interesting twist is that 10-round magazines will gradually cost more than standard capacity magazines. Just the opposite of the prices we faced during the AW ban. Dealers/Manufacturers now how those folks over a barrel and can command premium prices.

I do believe Ruger is shipping some of thier autos with either restricted mags and un-restricted mags to accomodate all states.
