I personally think so. I believe you will see a slight rise immediately and anytime there is legislation to "infringe" on whatever rights we already have. President Bush will have to compromise with Congress so the line item veto will come and go I suppose
I would like to ask you fellow THRs to keep it a bit civil and no scratching or clawing. Just state what you really think if the prices will go up and if they do how quick and on what. Might do a body good to know these kind things if you are planning to make a purchase in the near future.

I have put off many gun purchases in the last few years, but I am now planning out my final purchases. I have several friends that are already doing the same planning. If you think they won't get a new AWB passed you are nuts. They will and prices will do the same thing as last time.

Buy gun mfger stock

LOL, I would recommend taking delivery of the actual finished product.
Which would you rather have a year after a future ban: paper stock of a
company that made semi-autos or the actual semi-auto?

How much is Tec-9 stock worth right now???

I think he may mean something along the lines of "if you can't afford a gun, buy the stock! The stock will increase in value, then you can sell it and buy a gun!" :D :p

Prices will increase, but IMO not so much about gun legislation as Minimum Wage. That will push inflation, which will make everything more expensive. When you push low end wages, it takes everything above with it.

Next they will increase taxes, which companies pass on to us.

Democrats appeal to the foolish and gullible of our society.

"We're gonna punish oil companies by taxing them." OK, so how does that lower my gas prices? The government already makes 4 times as much per gallon as the oil companies.

"We're gonna increase minimum wage." OK, so companies increase prices to compensate which pushes inflation. Fed tightens money to fight inflation. Interest rates rise so companies raise prices more to cover costs.

I lived thru the Jimmie Carter years. All you guys that wanted the Dems in control got your wish. Hang on to your hats. 12% unemployment, double digit inflation, mortgage rates at 16%. Been there, seen that.

Actually, I'm not too worried about gun prices. I hope they go up, because I'm selling most of mine pretty soon. First to go are the AK and SKS. I'm not gonna have something that's worth a lot of money end up under a steam roller while I own it.

Can't happen here?? Ask the guys from Australia. They felt the same way. Then they watched their family heirlooms crushed. If you don't think the Dems want that same thing here, you're a fool.

The stock won't increase in value if it cannot sale its products. There will probably be some price gouging and some prices will rise. Yet there is enough pressure already to increase gun prices without Demo's being in a majority.

Wedge issues like gun control will be placed to the side for now. The '08 election will cap that except for a possible .50 cal ban.

I think the main issues that will occupy everyones time will be SS, Medicare, the prescription drug program, education, increases in grants for college and of course the war and investigation into the Republicans actions over the last 6 years will keep everyone busy. Also you can expect raise in the minimum wage.

Remember the '08 election is just around the corner and both parties will be working to show the American people that they are the party to be trusted. Neither party can afford to tick off a group as large as gun owners and still expect to gain the White House.

So to be on the safe side the formation of local PAC's in your city should be in the forefront of your actions over the next 2 years.

The Dems will have less impact on prices than the shoppers do. There is a sense of foreboding, at least around here. Not quite a panic, but it seems some of the local residents anticipate a shortage of certain types of firearms in the days ahead. I expect it is only a matter of time before they break into their piggy banks and rush down to buy the guns they worry won't be available next year. I expect that will push up local retail prices.

I stopped by WalMart today to pick up some .308 ammo to use in sighting in a scope newly mounted on ye old deer rifle. I wanted 3 boxes; they had only two. I also bought 4 boxes of .223. The fellow in line behind me opined that it looked like there was a run on ammo and said "The Dems took the house... you better get stocked up!" Not sure if he was joking or not.

Later stopped by the gun shop --- the usual browse to see what was new on the used gun rack. Discussion was, of course, centered on the results of the election. General consensus was that there would be a run on high-cap mags.

Almost certainly...

There will probably continue to be a steady rise in the prices of guns & ammo for a while, and then if and when there starts to be serious talk of new "legislation", watch out & hold on to your wallet!

Judging by a few of the posts in some of the other threads, it sounds as if some guys started feverishly burying their guns & ammo stockpiles in their back yards this morning, or are about to.

If these same guys start buying out the local wally-worlds and other ammo suppliers, helping to artificially create a 'shortage' in some areas, this will just give the retailers another excuse to raise prices even higher than they already are.

The Brady Bunch is quite happy with the election results yesterday.

They may be happy about yesterday but that is in the past and people are now gearing up for the '08 election. If you want to win the White House you have to be in the Center. That means you don't tick off the gun owners no matter how much you hate guns. If you do then you lose the White House. The White House is the prize and everyone is now working for that prize.

As a Democrat you cannot appeal to the aggregate liberal hidden vote playing center. The higher on the Democrat ticket you go the more left you have to go. You can stay moderate or conservative left at the grass roots level but not state level or higher. I still think that there will be a slight rise on the price of firearms as a result of this elections.

I suspect the strategy is to get firm control of house and senate (done this week). Pass legislation that makes voter fraud much easier. Open the borders (like they're not already) and flood the US with illegals that vote liberal. Guest worker programs so they stay here. Once this happens, it will be impossible to pry the Dems out of office.

That's when guns are banned, etc.

Personally, I think that we can expect to see horrendous tax increases imposed on AMMO! Remember, Senator Hillary Clinton is STILL sitting on legislation that was originally authored by the late Senator Moynihan (D-NY). That legislation, if passed, would impose a 10,000% increase in federal taxes on factory-loaded ammo! They don't NEED to take the guns.....just make SHOOTING them outlandishly expensive!

Add to that, the reloaders wouldn't be in much better shape! The increase in taxes would extend to bullets, gunpowder, primers and new casings!

I don't recall the exact words that "San Fran Nan(cy Pelosi) used, but they were something along the lines of, "....when the right time comes around". Well, those were, basically, the same words that Senator Clinton used about submitting Moynihan's ammo tax legislation!

Californians....STAND-BY! So far, the state legislation has tried to get ammo taxes increased twice in the past few years. The first would have been a 5-cents PER ROUND tax on ALL factory-loaded ammo. The second try was for a 10-cents PER ROUND tax! A box of 50 rounds of .22LR ammo would jump to almost $5 per box! Kinda expensive "plinking"!

Just remember who (typically) places Democrats into power. It isn't your typical pull yourself up by your bootstraps kind of guy like me. Who firmly believes in the second amendment by the way. Remember what drives political parties in this nation. The left panders to fear and unrest but does little to solve them. I realise that the right is better at foreign relations than the left and the left is better at domestic policies. The main reason I distain the left is simply this, I don't want them governing me on account of inner city problems when I am not inner city and that relates to firearms or the restriction of firearms.

I'm not running out to buy every gun I want and fear might be banned, but I am stocking up on high-cap mags.

I imagine mag manufacturers starting planning to crank out high-cap models as fast as possible Wed. morning.

I'm not sure another ban is coming, '94 was not that long ago and rightly contributed to the AWB. I see lots of nonsense babysteps coming, but nothing major - Bush can still veto anything silly.

If a dem pres makes it into the WH in '08 and the republicans fail to resume control of the Hill, it'll be time to buy everything in sight.

Some shady dealers will take advantage of our fears and start hiking prices, but the smart ones will keep selling at the same margins. Manufacturers aren't going to artificially inflate their dealer cost. It would only hurt them.

True. But all the Dems have to do is campaign to the center and govern to the left. All it takes is someone who has a gift for shuck and jive. It worked for Bill Clinton. It won't work for Hillary.

Gun owners need to be wise to this kind of electioneering tap dance. There may be a handful of Dems who can be trusted in this area, but they are few and far between. And they will always be slaves to the party platform, which is inherently anti-gun, whether it so states or not.
