Will this work?

Good morning all! I am new to the group. My name is Jackie and I am a single 25 yr old mom who is a recent domestic violence survivor. Because of our safety I purchased a Taurus 9mm Pt609....well some low life stole my magazine out of my gun the other day. I need a replacement immediately. Upon searching the only replacement that keeps coming up is for Pt709. Will it work? All the pt609 items seems to be non existent.

Here is a link for the Taurus 24/7 Compact magazine at Cheaper than Dirt. According to the guys at Taurus armed.net these will work with minor trimming to the plastic baseplate. Even they say the original 609 mags are pretty much unobtainable.

Hi, Miss Jackie. Unfortunately, it appears none of the other Taurus magazines are a direct fit for the PT609. The gun you have is one originally made for an international market and sold here only for a sort time, apparently discontinued here in 2011 or so. It held a 13-round magazine vs the PT709's seven-rounder.

I have seen a couple of posters over at TaurusArmed.net say that magazines for the Taurus 24/7C fit in the PT609, but I cannot find any posts from anyone who says they have actually shot reliably such a combination. As NIGHTLORD40 mentions above, the baseplate may need some trimming or filing to seat it properly.

I also cannot, at this time, find anyone selling a direct-fit PT609 magazine.
