Just caught this-

http://www.wilsoncombat.com/newgunname3.asp

I'm kinda put off by the high angle of the thumb safety and the squared off trigger guard, but it looks interesting.

What is this trend toward squared off trigger guards?

One reason I like the CCF Race Frame for the Grock. I hate those- Beretta, Glock, and now this...

Maybe we could petition Wilson Combat to keep the classic lines of the 1911 in a polymer frame. It might need some reinforcement (thicker material in the trigger guard, for example) but they don't have to fix what ain't broke...

I wonder how many submissions such as "Blaspheme" or "travesty" they will get.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to have my name associated with that hideous contraption.

Sorry Wilson, stick to the classic design. You need to abandon the desire to reinvent the 1911 with polymer. No one wants it.

I still can't believe they put their name on the ADP. What a horrible little cheap pistol. I've handled and fired them, and I have to wonder WTH Bill Wilson was thinking.

Not too interested in the aesthetics of a working gun.

Not all that interested in a squared off trigger guard. At least it looks more 'finished' and 'sleek' than the KZ offering.

Some folks like to 'personalize' or 'refine/modify' grip stocks on 1911-style pistols. Did they find a grip design which will satisfy the greatest number of potential customers?

Proprietary magazine or common design?

How about availability when it comes to production numbers and support?

The real question is, will it feed & function?

I think in this particular case, it is to match up with the straight angled relief of the front side of the slide and front edge of the dust cover.

Interesting gun. I entered the fray. If I win, I'll post a pic. Yea right, but hey, someone has to. :)

The Glock looks fine, but the new Wilson "thing" is a solution to a non-existent problem. If they wanted to make a new polymer pistol, they should have. Taking a time honored design like the 1911 then trying to make it appeal to the Glock/XD crowd by making another attempt at a polymer frame is a poorly conceived concept.

STI pulled it off with their line of ugly pistols that feed the IPSC crowd to a degree. I mean, they're not immensely popular, but they've carved out a nice niche for themselves. Perhaps Wilson wants to steel their 1,000 or so polymer pistols they sell a year. That sounds like a profitable venture. :)

To all those that think it is ugly, have you looked at the Glocks? I sent in my name and it sure would be a nice early birthday present. So don't worry I'll give it a good home.!!!!

I wouldn't mind winning that.

I believe that STI's polymer guns have higher capacity magazines, not sure about this one.

I like free guns. I almost wet my pants when I thought of such
a good name for this one. I'll post some pics of it when I get it.

Please do......I think I though of a good name also.... :)

lol we probably though of the same one

what does your start with?

I predict this will be another disaster like the BP-TenII. I still cringe that I bought one but relish the day I traded it.

Oh please people. Some of you are just plain lazy and would rather not participate, but instead act like you are too good to own one even if it was free. If someone offered you $1200 (the likely price of this gun), would you be too good for that too?

Give me a break. I think it's cool. This is coming from a guy who owns 2 Glocks AND 2 1911s. I can't say I'm crazy about the kamikaze style grip design, but the overall design looks good considering it is a polymer 1911. As long as the grip is somewhat narrow and doesn't feel like a brick (like other double-stack 1911s), I see no reason why it wouldn't be successful as long as the price isn't outrageous. Magazine capacity would also be a major factor...

Some of you need to quit your bitchin'. Tell me why you need to complain about someone offering yet another option for the consumer? Aren't options a good thing? Sheesh...
