Wilson or Nighthawk

I did just see the Stinger it is something to consider. The Ed Brown just does not do it for me.

My Ed Brown Kobra Carry has been flawless out of the box. I can't personally speak to the Wilson, Nighthawk, or Baer models, but my Ed Brown has been so exceptional, that my next high dollar 1911 will be another Brown :D

The Guy with the screwy Nighthawk Got a brand new one once the owners saw it. All companies put out some bad work now and again, but Nighthawk bent over backwards to make sure this customer was happy. If you go to 1911forum you will be able to read the whole story about that gun not just some exert posted.

Well considering that NightHawk is nothing more then a few guy's who left Wilson moved down the street and make the same quality guns they did before with a new name....

The Wilson and NightHawk will serve you well. But I still have to vote for Wilson as I have more of them then the 1 Nighthawk.

see post #25 to get a good idea of nighthawk's customer service.

i clearly posted the links to all of the photos that i got from 1911forum as well so you can easily read the whole story. the point would be: you ever seen wilson/brown/baer make guns that look like that? (or even llama, for that matter )

partially correct. they did work for wilson, but they are not the same quality.

and the nighthawk guys went onto 1911forum.org bashing wilson too. the mods on there deleted the thread and gave them a warning. haven't seen the nighthawk company rep on there since....

by the way, here's another:

So I went shooting today and got about 75 rounds downrange in my T3 (chirstmas present and have about 400rds through it) and I noticed the slide was running a little slower than normal. I figured it was a little dry and gummy so I threw some more lube on and the problem continued. I put about 25 more rounds through it and every couple rounds the gun malfunctioned (slide would not return to battery). I downloaded and cycled the slide manually and it was obvious something was dragging. I carefully dissasembled the gun and my ejector was bent up and canted to the left causing it to drag on the slide. I couldn't put the slide back on because once I took it off it took the downward pressure off and I'm not going to force it back on.

Seems kind of odd. I have broken ejectors before but only the post. I have never had this happen. Any body experience this - with 1911s in general - not NHC specific? What would cause this to happen? Only thing I can think of is if the magazine was able to creep up too high and pushed a round into the bottom of the ejector? Any ideas?

Still love the gun but its KIA for now... I'm gonna call NHC tomorrow, I'm sure they'll fix it.

and the requisite link:http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=80147

whether they fix it or not is not the point. the point would be, for $3,000, this sort of thing should not be happening so much.

oh wait, and another i found! lol:

Nighthawkframe.jpg

Nighthawks' quality has been steadily going downhill since Ron Phillip's departure. Threads abound on internet firearms forums with members posting their issues with Nighthawk pistols that cost $2000+.

I highly recommend that if one really wants to purchase a Nighthawk, only buy one that can be found at a dealer's store that you can personally inspect (and by inspect, I mean go thru the entire pistol, both inside and out).

Here's a picture of a Nighthawk Dominator from a post at another forum. Note the defects in the frame. Nighthawk refused to replace the pistol.

Can't speak to Nighthawk, but I have a Wilson CQB-E and it's been flawless. Eats any ammo you feed it, and it puts the bullet right where you aim. Probaly going on 2K+ plus rounds and haven't had a single failure.

I have a Nighthawk GRP and have just purchased a Nighthawk Dominator. All brands will have some guns with issues, but overall Nighthawk has a great reputation for customer service and ultimately resolved the issues with the T3 posted by someone earlier in this thread. You can find examples of bad work with all high end 1911's, but I think most of these examples are the exception, not the rule. I have purchased a number of Wilson's and have had a couple of issues with two of them, but they were resolved.

I finally went with Nighthawk by the way. After reading and talking to one of the owners of Nighthawk on the phone I have no fears about the level of customer service that I will recieve if needed. In addition, they offer you a better banag for your buck than Wilson does in terms of additional features and what-not.

I have.
