Hello all, I have a Winchester 1400 that my son uses for trap. I would like to get a ribbed barrel with changeable chokes. It seems like model 1300 barrels are cheaper, I have read that the 1300 and 1400 are similar just one is pump and the other semi-auto. If it is used for singles trap, could you use a 1300 barrel and manually work the slide?
Thanks Bob

According to midwestgunworks.com Model 1300 barrels will not work on Model 1400 shotguns. They don't say whether it's a matter of not fitting properly or that it will not function correctly, being that it's a pump action barrel going into a gas operated design. They didn't have any Model 1400 barrels in stock.

They will not interchange, the bolt head is different. The price of even 1300 barrels is generally more than a complete 1300 or 1400 is worth. IMO, you would be better off putting that money toward another gun that already has the features you want.

I wanted to buy a smoothbore slugbarrel for my 1300. i was able to buy a used Mossberg 535 with 2 barrels (a smoothbore slug barrel and a bird barrel) for less $$$$. and... it included a scope
